We bought a 1T external HD some years back. It's on the "Take It And Scram" list I like them because they allow you a separate place to keep information such as inventories, Quicken files, and other things you might not want to lose when your PC goes blooey.

Texas sure isn't feeling much like Texas lately. It seems to have been cold for the last month. We're spoilt here, used to a few warm days then a cold one and some more warm days.

Rap, I don't plan to follow your example of killing equipment, but I have to work on the computer and hook up the various external drives to see what is on them. Probably time to retire a few smaller ones and reuse a drive enclosure for something with a few terabytes instead of a few gigabytes.

Turrible accident west of here. A truck delivering Alka-Seltzer to a warehouse went off the road and spilled its load into a large stock tank. Nobody hurt, not even the truck, but 200 head of cows burped for four hours.

3 loads of laundry folded. One in the dryer, one in the washer. A short story finished... I gave up at 2AM and went to Oggieland with it well formed. So, I just checked the temp (a balmy -6) and decided it was snow removal time. I was putting on me hazard suit and noted through a window that it's FUCKIN SNOWIN! Checked the updated forecast and revised the ops plan. Put on my Jammies, cracked an ale and decided on toast and ice cream for supper. May as well shovel it all at once tomorrow morn. Efficiency is my middle name. Well, one of them, along with Procrastinate, Lazy and a few others.

Amos, you should get a Sunshine Blower and blow it... you know. >;-) BTW, I checked my 6/49 Lotto ticket and yer safe fer a while yet.

We spent a quiet Christmas working in the house. I destroyed a hard drive again and the PC is now ready for recycling. I, too, had to shovel sunshine off the walk and driveway, but instead I just let it sit there and melt. But then, we only went out to retrieve the newspaper. Bacon-wrapped filets, Yorkshire pudding, and sauteed green beans for dinner, just the two of us. We are spending quiet holidays this year, except for brunch on Sunday for maybe 28 people.

God bless you one and all, you sufferers. I had a little fire going for Xmas Day breakfast, and we had the choreographer and the high-tech entrepreneur and his wife and the rising young geek executive over for a big spread. It was kind of loverly, in fact, and we got one of them new high-tech Chromecast plugins for our TV. Most amusing. Mimosas, cronuts, bacon and scrambled eggs, strawberries and chocolate pearls for dessert, more mimosas and canned Christmas Music. Purely grand times, hashed out all the major issues of the world and everyone went home happy.

It got so warm that I had to take my jacket off, then my sweater. By the time brunch was done and I went outside to repair Tucker's rear bumper, I was working in my teeshirt in the balmy sunlight, which weas so thick I had to shovel it off the walk just to get to the car.

Oh, fer... Get yer window fan, plug it in, and get ready! Now take a sledge hammer and bust a big hole in the wall, away from where you sleep, eat and do stuff -- a closet is good, especially if it has a door. Put the fan so it pulls air OUT of the house and INTO the outside. Problem solved, especially if you used a closet with a door you can close after the odors are gone.

Remember that you still have various air pollution laws to deal with, so be able to shrug your shoulders and say "Who? Me?" to the cops just like you do to in church when you let off a good one during the sermon.

Well, Mum and I got some stuff for the spring yard sale. Unless I put em on kijiji before that. Mum don't never say shit even if she had a mouthful but on the way home, she cut loose! Best laugh we've had in days. She said she wanted to look over at me but she knew she wouldn't be able to keep a straight face. I was amazed at her poise when she held up one 3-part gift and proudly displayed it for all and uttered, "Isn't that lovely?". She was hiding her face and I had to stifle myself and cover with a cough. It was true trash.

I home 1.5 hours ago and decided WTH, I'll see what this stuff smells like. Two small pump spray bottles of Eau de Merde that my niece sells (got two bonus air freshers hangy thingies for the truck). Wouldn't work until I turned it upside downy. A tiny bit half squirted and half sprayed and was immediately assaulted with acrid and vile odor which I cannot descibe. I left the kitchen in haste. I am now in the orifice and the assault continues. Hmmm... there is roughly 450 cu m of airspace in this house (I have forced air heating). The liquid volume estimate is 100 cu mm. Soooo, the volume ratio of Eau de Merde to air is 1:450,000,000. Since I can't open the windows like Rap can in his far more mild weather, I should be free from the reek in a matter of hours because I smoke and drink and they both numb the senses of odor and taste.

Turkey and ham dinner wasn't too bad. There was sparkly pop and I had a few smokes. >;-)

The presentries were fun when the autistic lad got a lot of gifts and he truly appreciated them. The joy I saw on his face made the trial worthwhile.

Now, about the fuckin cranberries in the turkey dressing..... there oughta be a law!

I went to Mass (YES!! REALLY!!) at 9 p.m. and guess who was there?

Eiseley!!

While her oldest is in Poland, she has a Polish boy living at her place. He's Catholic, so she took him to Mass.

I also told the Pastor that I knew a great little place for duck hunting and I'd pick him up at 4 a.m. For some reason he said that at 4 a.m. he'd "be jello" and didn't want to come along.

That's okay, I'm not going anyway. Shooting ducks on a National Bird Refuge can lead to trouble.

Col. Henry Potter on M*A*S*H.

I've been in the kitchen all afternoon, took time to deliver one gift, and now it's back to the kitchen. Cookies for the kids and a few for the grownups.

Our ABQ mudcatter Mr. Brooks delivered a parcel to Mr. Thieme as part of the Secret Santa game this year. I told Mr. Brooks that Mr. Thieme didn't know he was in the game, so Mr. Brooks wouldn't be able to tease in the thread for teasing about such things. I see a note from Art and Carol this evening - perfect timing! YES!

As I descend into the Hellhole of my Kissmeass, I am lifted by a day long, intermittantlty, by times, banter with a fellow Mudcatter. An Irish Secret Agent living and lurking among the English in their very homeland. They suspect he is a spy but are not sure. Being polite, they remain simply suspicious, even tho he plays fiddle and is within a trio of those that play and write music of The Emerald Isle.

We spoke of much. We spoke of The Baby Jesus. We spoke of Noah and the polar bears in Palestine... even of Noah and the snake that betrayed Adam, the first man on Facebook, at risk of discovery by the Dutch. The Dutch. English? Germans? Austrians? Even SWISS? Nay... fear the Dutch. Wooden shoes? A simple ruse. Cute and cuddly? Do not fear the Dutch at your own peril.

Anyway, we came up with several ideas for new songs, none of which have anything to do with the Dutch. Ya don't wanna fuck with the Dutch. They got wooden shoes and The Manatee Brigade right? I mean, it's winter here and manatees can sneak right up to my back door without wearin camo... sneaky bastards. Just gotta close their eyes and lie in wait to ambush me on my way up ta yer Sobeys fer a carton a milk. They are ruthless!

In the end, we commiserated and held fast to the joyous truth that Erin is free of snakes... free from the evil which Noah brought to the rest of humanity upon his ark. Along with the polar bears from Palestine. And, more importantly, the Dutch.

I shall be pleading, NAY, claiming immunity from such vile veggies in the name of waist size concerns. The "cheescake"? Not a hope! It's viler than vile. Ever get served a half pound piece of cheesecake? That shoulda been my first clue.

Heheheheee... pic this. On Thanksgiving, we had apple pie. Nephew brought the pie. Got it at the farmers' market. His buddy told him it was soooo good! It wasn't cooked but he cut it up and served it!!! And here's the kicker... his trade in the CAF Reserves (Weekend Warriors my bro called em)? Cook. If we ever go to war, he's safe on accounta they won't call him up. Can't fight a war from the outhouse.

Breakfast tomorrow is our tradition - bacon, buttermilk pancakes, and I think I'll add scrambled eggs. Those salmon and eggs sound delicious!

Pot roast for dinner (I gave all the choice of turkey or roast - they want pot roast). I have a loaf of fresh homemade bread and a few tomatoes picked green and ripened in the house. My Moonglow may have a BLT for lunch on xmas day. :)

The smoked salmon and scramble eggs (with a piece of toast) was delicious - a squeeze of lemon juice and some black pepper on the salmon. It's a bit of a tradition with us to have it for lunch on Christmas Eve. Still got enough salmon for a sarnie on Boxing Day.

Now I'm simmering the stock for tomorrow's gravy: turkey giblets (rinsed well in cold water), one carrot, one small onion, a bay leaf, a stalk of celery and 1 litre of water. Bring to boil, simmer for two hours, strain into jug, cool, cover with clingfilm, put in fridge till tomorrow. Before lunch, add turkey juices and heat rapidly to reduce.

Yum, yum, bring it on!

SRS... yes, lobster. You heard it after Date: 23 Dec 13 - 02:27 PM, I assume. Dog hair. I lived with a couple of buddies in a big ol house for a couple of years while at uni. The owner, a fellow grad student, had a half Shepherd, half Newf, big, black, shaggy dog. I used to wrestle with him in the living room. Got a call one day and the girl with the sexy voice would not take 'no' for an answer and even offered a free set of steak knives if I would accept a vacuum demo. The guy looked at the carpet, gave me the steak knives and left without plugging in the vacuum. Bear.

Pete... smoked salmon and scrabled eggs sound gooood!

The Four Days of Christmas start this afternoon with the cracking of 3 1.75# Bay of Fundy hardshell bugs (lobsters). $6.88/# fer cooked? eat yer heart out. I told Mum to "stay hungry" for Wild Turkey Surprise. Tomorrow, she gets a couple of small bottles of sparkly pop. The next day, a can of frozen Shediac Bay bug meat, a monster deeeluxe "cheesecake" (4 quarters of different flavours), box of cherry, a box of cherry chocolates, 6 packets of mint chocolates, and cashews. The last day, 1# of nice Bay of Fundy scallops and fishcakes (cod) cooked juuuust right, with all the trimmings.

Oh, yeah, almost forgot. If the weather doesn't change, she's also gonna get her driveaway shovelled every f***in day too. But, look on the bright side, eh? 87 days to Spring Solstice. Then, there will only be another month or so of this white crap. If ya see Ol Man Winter, hold him down and call me. I got sommat I'd like ta put to him.

Hey, Pete, I have an American Staffordshire terrier. Wonderful smart sweet dog. Looks kind of like the one on that page - red and white with a red nose and white feet and chest. She was an injured stray big pup, unaltered (ears are natural - such lovely expressive ears!) She smiles (literally - wrinkles her nose and shows her teeth as she wags happily). She's probably break the Galactic Overlord's kneecaps by wagging her tail so hard in his presence.

Izzity Wuzz was out for a buzz
Or a thrill-ride in some new identity.
He wanted like heck to have an effect
He was bored with endless serenity.

So Izzity thought well, and he mustered a spell
To make Something??and thought he could see it!
It was lovely and bright, and it tasted all right
So the bugger decided to Be it.

Now being a Something was all very well,
It certainly added Dimension
But some other Being tried to Be it as well,
And Izzy felt some apprehension

It was grounds for Resistance, he decided at once,
And along with Resistance, Desire
And the sad combination of feeling and force
Soon had Izzy tangled in fire.

He quickly lost track of the Something's own source
And reckoned the cause was worth fighting
Without realizing he was fighting himself
And the fire was all his igniting!

I agree with Gnu- I would prefer that snow go 'out' freeze-drying, rather than sink into boggy, knee-deep slush from rain. It is one time, however, when I like the fact that we don't get MUD with it- Juneau doesn't have enough top soil for that to be a problem.
