I don't see a problem with that, because we are all One in Spirit anyway. So we all share in whatever gets created, but someone gets official recognition for it, that's all. Or they don't. As the case may be. ;-)

Don't worry about it! Just keep on being creative.

I think we are all linked, in more ways than we are even comfortable with. But I do not think we are all one in spirit. Except by an occasional act of will.

Anyway, Mark Twain in this instance is wrong. I never thought I would say so, but the poresence of all the nopise and connectedness in the universe does not diminish in any way the spark of the individual as his own source.

That's like saying that because everything is mixed up in the blender, there cannot possibly be a cook.

Mike, did you transcribe that Twain remark or pick it up from a site? I'd like to add that to some notes on my facebook page. And read more of these letters.

The assertion that "all ideas are second-hand" is oxymoronic, self-contradictory, and unsupportable. I understand very well what the swamp of notions Mister Twain refers to is and why it looks like that, but he just missed the boat on that one. Too much absinthe.

Nobody's perfect. ;-) Mark Twain included.

When I say that we are all One in Spirit, I mean that we're all part of a singularity, that singularity being everything...or the Unmanifest...or the Totality...or the Alpha and the Omega...or God...or the continuum...or whatever one wishes to call it. No word can adequately define it.

That doesn't mean we don't have individuality. We are as drops in an ocean. Each drop has individuality when you remove it AS a drop and set it aside. Then you can see it. When it's in the ocean, you can't see it, you just see the ocean, but it still exists. Its individuality occurs the moment it becomes aware of itself as apart from the rest of the ocean. Does its individuality vanish when it rejoins the ocean?

I don't know. Maybe so. Maybe not.

Last week I stated that this woman was the ugliest woman I had ever seen. I have since been visited by her sister and now wish to withdraw that statement.

While the Coexistence of Zeroeth Being is a perfectly wonderful experience and perfectly possible for any being in good enough condition, my opinion is that it is entirely voluntary (it would have to be!) and not an inherent condition of existence.

Prior to the will to Be itself, of course, such distinctions become meaningless.

I agree that it is voluntary. The will to BE is, of course, crucial. We have all excercised that will.

And some have even exorcised it.

I hate giving away my secrets, but she asked nicely.

I don't think God gets upset with anybody, but has considerable compassion for both children...and the people who in their deep misunderstanding are mean to children. People get upset with other people. God doesn't. In my opinion.

You see, I simply do not believe in an angry God who metes out punishment to the "sinner". People who behave badly end up being their own punishment, plus they get a lot from other people, usually. Life itself punishes them, because they arrange it that way. (This doesn't mean they don't necessarily get a lot of power, money or material stuff and die rich in bed...it's not about that. It's about having inner peace, deep love, and a sense of fullfillment in your life. People who achieve inner peace, deep love, and a sense of fullfillment aren't mean to children and they aren't driven to run around frantically after money, power, and a ton of material stuff.)

Holy crap Mum! Is it ever raining now! AaaaNOTHER downpour. People with all manner of raingear (many garbage-bagged youths) trekking the sidewalks here on there way to the bus pickup point for the concert about 500m from me. The concert is about 4km from me as the crow flies. They park in the surrounding neighbourhoods and walk to the pickup point. I don't think U2 is worth a cold (17C... but no wind thank goodness) and blistered feet but I am not young and stupid. Just stupid... I really shoulda bought a Red Zone VIP ticket. $275 and who knows if they'll ever be back?

On the bright side, tis supposed to clear before U2 hit the stage and, if the wind stays down, I should be able to say I heard U2 live in concert at my house.

Correctly stated, you can imply that it was a private concert at your house.

By the way, I did some investigating and it's not U-2, the band with Bono. It's U-Two, the band with Boneo. They play a sort of Country-Western Reggae with polka undertones.

I shall let him continue his worthless, drab life, trudging day after day to meaningless work where he must associate with drab, meaningless co-workers like a hamster in a wheel or Sisyphus perpetually rolling his boulder to the top of the hill only to have it roll back to the bottom while, like Prometheus, he is bound to the rock of a job while vultures and ravens of the less capable feast upon his guts but unlike Prometheus this will be done as a caprice, a whim on my part, instead of a punishment. There will be no punishment, for I am All-Merciful.

Those who are all-powerful can afford to be all-merciful. It is those who fear the limits of their reach who take vengeance and mete out punishment. Only an insecure and fearful God would punish mortals for going astray.

Ah, Amos and LH. Even for those of us with no religious leanings know about Jonathan Edwards and his Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God. It's one of the "cultural literacy" things that goes along with learning American History. "The arrows of death fly unseen at noonday; the sharpest sight can't discern them. God has so many different unsearchable ways of taking wicked men out of the world and sending 'em to hell, that there is nothing to make it appear that God had need to be at the expense of a miracle, or go out of the ordinary course of his providence, to destroy any wicked man, at any moment."

It did have something to do with the conversation several dozen posts back. :)

SRS... is everything bigger in Texas? I just saw watermelons ($3.33 a piece each? HOW can they grow, ship, handle them AND make money at $3.33?) at the Coop and they are at LEAST 1.5 times the size as the Florida watermelons. HUGE I say.

HUge watermelons are a wonderful thing in a large household, a company picnic, or a hootenanny. But in an ordinary household they have to constantly be taken out of the fridge, small slices taken off and then pout back into the fridge with Saran Wrap over them. A large watermelon can last a week this way in a small household, and a huge one, two or three weeks. The labor in moving it around is enormous!!
However it shares the advantage that it can suck up a half-gallon of vodka without leaking.

Claudine used to cut an oblong hole in a watermelon al la pumpkin style, scoop out the guts, mash it, pour in vodka and white rum and crushed ice, put it back in the melon and carve a space in the "lid' she cut out for a ladle.

I had a large glass one day whilst sitting in a lawn chair admiring the beach bunnies through my sunglasses on the edge of the lawn of the last cottage on the beach next to Parlee Beach (world famous Parlee Beach). It was about 35C. You couldn't taste the booze until you woke up.... can you say "Reach out and grab you by the booboo!"?

There was a gathering of LDS Bishops here at the same time and hotel the Idaho Legion was meeting. Both asked that watermelon be served, but the Legion as that it be charged beforehand with 100 proof vodka.

Well, the chef got the two orders mixed up and he sent a waiter to see what was going on. The waiter came back and reported that the Legion was proceeding in its meeting quite well, and were quite well behaved.

"And the bishops?" asked the chef.

"They're running around shoving watermelon seeds in their pockets," replied the waiter.

The best thing to do with a really LARGE watermelon is to haul it up to the top of the CN Tower, take it out on the observation deck, and throw it off...having first, of course, cleared the square below of passersby. The result is spectacular! Or it would be...if the police and the city would only let me do it... (sigh)

Another unrealized dream.

(* The CN Tower is the tallest building in Canada. And that's damn tall! For awhile I think it was the tallest in the world.)
