Send it to me. I love zucchini, not least because it rhymes with Mussolini and Piccinini.

MOM, I can't find anyone else to palm off share my zucchini with. My next door neighbor who likes it can only eat so much and my other next door neighbor moved and the new homeowners aren't living there yet. A friend visited, but he doesn't eat it.

Mom!

What's this big deal about physicists not being able to find dark matter? I find copious quantities of dark matter every morning and I don't know a quark from a lepton.

Maybe those scientists just need a dose of Metamucil or a couple of glycerin suppositories.

Thanks, Acme. Shane was wondering what was going on here, so I decided to take a look after a long absence. I re-read Amos's book awhile back, and I highly recommend it. It's a great story, well told.

No, Repparee got to see the cardiologist yesterday. There is the small amount of blockage earlier noted. He also is pumping 40-50% from his left ventricle, with the norm for a 18 year old in perfect physical health is about 60%. Actually, it's not to bad for a guy who's 73 and I told him so.

Good to see you here, LH. Our rude and crude greetings to Chongo et al. Amos will certainly appreciate a visit.

That's right! You can walk right in the house with a brand new top of the line air guitar, and no one is the wiser. And they never go out of tune.

The other great thing about air guitars is you can have as many as you want and your girlfriend won't threaten to leave if you get one more.

It's Tarzan who swings through. And Chongo, of course.

Amos doesn't swing through, he saunters through.

And the great thing about air guitar (Shane's instrument of choice) is that you can leave it just about anywhere when you're not playing it, and no one even notices it's there.

Guitars should never be stored behind couches, under beds, or in closets unless the guitar owners' abilities are so dismal that their housemates will only allow them to play behind couches, under beds, or in closets.

Accordions and bagpipes, on the other hand, should only be stored behind couches, under beds, or in closets, in hopes that their owners will forget they exist.

He's not. He had a run in with an Irish colleen, Angie O'Gram. Angie found a 20-30% blockage in his cardiac arteries, but that wasn't enough for a stint with a stent so that wasn't installed. However, some of the heart tissue doesn't work as it should and Angie told him that it might have been do to a viral infection. He'll know more on the 13th when he meets with a cardiologist or sooner. Being groggy when another visitor, Annie Thesia, left he wasn't real clear on the results.

There is a really funny silly bit of business from Lewis Carroll
about a mouse: not "Alice in Wonderland" and its dormouse,
but a house mouse.
Unfortunately,
because it is in Carroll's "Sylvie and Bruno" which is known to few people,
I expect nobody will recognize it.

The best known thing about "Sylvie and Bruno," I believe, is the
serial song/poem of The Mad Gardener. A series of limericks,
with the formula:

He thought he saw a *********
That *************
He looked again, and found it was
A **************
and at the end, two lines of commentary.

Mom!

Why did Ralph Kramden say, "One of these days, POW!!! Right in the kisser!"? Specifically, why was it necessary for him to specify that the POW!!! would occur one of these days?

There are only two types of days: these days and those days. By definition, those days are in the past and, therefore, no longer accessible for human activity. So, anything that a human may do, whether it's sending Alice Kramden to the moon or making a bologna sandwich, must be done one of thesedays.

Duckdogs, Tralfamadorians, and other higher-dimensional entities may be able to do things one of those days, but Ralph Kramden can't.

14 years ago Amos said Creation doesn't "come from" somewhere. It is what you bring into being from nothingness, an act of aware will, POW! That's where inspiration comes from. Hooking up with enough of your lost, scattered, disconnected, discombobulated, or denied bits of awareness to bring some back together again with a rush of accompanying energy, a proper Shazaam of the soul. Why go around painting yourself as another power?

A

Bold and forthright I would concur with Amos but leave a little room for the transmission and reception of a sixth sense. It is easy to distinguish great musical talent and performance from the tone deaf without rhythm but is hard to compare those with access to another power.

I can for example remotely taste how good BWL's snacks are compared to Rap's snacks. Hey that has a ring to it! RAPSNACKS

Here's another use for that shark (or any other fish, like sardines and mackerel and crappie):

Cut a pound of whole fish (bones and guts and all) into 1" pieces and add to a big jar.

Mash fish into a slurry with a potato masher or mortar or your hands (if the last, rubber gloves are recommned).

Smash a whole bunch of peeled garlic cloves by pressing under the blade of a wide knife or something. Add to jar.

Grate or peel a lemon and add lemon peel to jar.

Add a lot of crushed peppercorns, a couple of bay leaves, a cup of salt, and enough water to jar to cover fish completely. Mix well.

Cover tightly with lid. Let it work (don't mix it!) for 12 weeks to a year. Filter before using, if you do.

Okay, Bee-Dub, try this recipe instead.

         1. Dissolve 1 cup salt in 1/2 gallon water. Soak 2 heads of Napa or other cabbage, quartered, in the salt water for 3 to 4 hours.
       2. Combine a bunch of peeled garlic, a couple inches or more of peeled ginger root, and fish sauce (anchovy is fine) and/or salted shrimp in food processor or blender until finely minced.
       3. In large bowl, combine daikon or other radishes, chipped green onions, torn mustard greens, garlic mixture, about 1/2 cup chili powder, and 1 tablespoon salt. Toss gently but thoroughly. (If mixing with your hands, be sure to wear rubber gloves to avoid chili burn.)
       4. Remove cabbage from water and rinse thoroughly. Drain cabbage in colander, squeezing as much water from the leaves as possible. Take cabbage and stuff radish mixture between leaves, working from outside in, starting with largest leaf to smallest. Do not overstuff, but make sure radish mixture adequately fills leaves. When entire cabbage is stuffed, take one of the larger leaves and wrap tightly around the rest of the cabbage. Put the stuffed cabbage in a or stoneware jar 1-gallon jar, pressing down firmly to remove any air bubbles. Cover or screw the lid on.
       5. Let sit for at least 2 to 3 days in a cool place before serving. Remove former cabbage and stuff from jar and slice into 1-inch-length pieces. Refrigerate after opening.

I think I'll stick with "Cut the shark meat into roughly one-inch cubes, dip in egg, dust with fine corn meal, deep fry in canola oil until golden brown."

Icelanders (and other people who live where the sun doesn't shine half the year) have too much time on their hands, so they come up with weird things to do with fish and, somehow, convince themselves that they've created something delicious. After all, if it takes the better part of a year to create, it has to be be good, even if it tastes like week-old snot.

Hey, Bee-Dub! Here's a way to use your shark meat!

Take one large shark, gut and discard the fins, tail, innards, the cartilage and the head (BTW, a very healthy oil is processed from the liver and used as a food supplement). Cut flesh into large pieces.

Wash in running water to get all slime and blood off. Dig a large hole in coarse gravel, preferably down by the sea and far from the nearest inhabited house - this is to make sure the smell doesn't bother anybody. Put in the shark pieces, and press them well together. It's best to do this when the weather is fairly warm (but not hot), as it hastens the curing process. Cover with more gravel and put heavy rocks on top to press down. Leave for 6-7 weeks (in summer) to 2-3 months (in winter). During this time, fluid will drain from the shark flesh, and putrefication will set in.

When the shark is soft and smells like ammonia, remove from the gravel, wash, and hang in a drying shack. This is a shack or shed with plenty of holes to let the wind in, but enough shade to prevent the sun from shining directly on the shark. Let it hang until it is firm and fairly dry: 2-4 months. Warm, windy and dry weather will hasten the process, while cold, damp and still weather will delay it.

Slice off the brown crust, cut the whitish flesh into small pieces and serve. A large glass of something strong (like ice cold Ever Clear) helps.

This is called hákarl and is one of the national dishes of Iceland. Bon appetite!

Believe it or not Yau and Calabi are not new to me. Yang-Mills in comparison are really on to something. Yau and friends strive to such minute detail that they are not seeing the forest for the trees.
They are at least two assumptions away from seeing my conceptual universe born of torsion and energy.
They see with sub atomic holographic eyes, i see the universe in torsional space time spirals that gave rise to all particles and dimensions.

Even at our core we are all programed by spiral geometry

btw monument building is deeply fascinating.

Oh, yeah. Donuel, remember that in two complex dimensions, the K3 surfaces furnish the only compact simply connected Calabi–Yau manifolds. Non simply-connected examples are given by abelian surfaces. Enriques surfaces and hyperelliptic surfaces have first Chern class that vanishes as an element of the real cohomology group, but not as an element of the integral cohomology group, so Yau's theorem about the existence of a Ricci-flat metric still applies to them but they are sometimes not considered to be Calabi–Yau manifolds.
