It looks like it's set up so as many as 6 McBrides can swing simultaneously.

Not too far away is Mollie's Nipple. Actually, there are three of them in Idaho and two aren't very far from me. There are seven (7) in Utah and three in Arizona. I have no idea who Mollie was.

The Shame of the McBrides, I understand, is something of a rock god and I have found him a venue where he can rock out on an elevated stage. The place is quite famous and it has a reputation for a "swingin' time."

Big Dick Point, Idaho. HA! HA! HA! That sounds like a place Shane would absolutely want to visit, figuring it was just the right kind of place for a testosterone-laced hunk of burning love such as himself to say he'd been to so as to impress women. He'd get a picture of himself taken there as a testimonial to his powerfully penetrating and puissant penile prowess.

Shane is still under the false impression that Lewis and Clark named Idaho for the Indian woman Sacagawea whom they met there and who served as their guide or interpreter. When they met her, says Shane, Lewis asked "Who are you?" She answered "I da ho." (She was a wild one...) And so, that's what they named the place. This is according to Shane, though it has not been confirmed in any of the official histories of the Lewis and Clark expedition.

Well, it appears that substituting frozen yogurt for ice cream on National Ice Cream Day is not a serious criminal offense. I ate frozen yogurt and the jackbooted thugs from the National Ice Cream Council didn't break my door down.   I did hear one loud noise during the night, but it was probably just one of the improvised mines lining the length of my driveway taking out one of the NICC's tanks.

Is it me or does every mountain in Idaho sound like a dick joke?

I was ready to snatch it, but magnanimously let Bee-Dubya-Ell have it.

As for the Shame of the McBrides, I most cordially invite him to come visit. There's good beer, indeed, a new brewery just opened here. I shall be happy to attempt to quench his thirst, and when he becomes tired I shall provide a place for his weary body to rest. And, rather than make him feel any more inferior than he actually is, I shan't mention this place to him.

By the way, did you notice the sneaky way I grabbed that 57575 palindrome?

I didn't announce it in the actual post in case one of the other kids was waiting around the corner, ready to snatch it from my greedy little slightly larger than average hands.

Mom!

Today is National Ice Cream Day and all I have in the freezer is a carton of cherry and chocolate-chip frozen yogurt! Is that close enough to ice cream to do the job, or should I make a special trip to town and buy real ice cream?

Factuality also has a propensity to be BS just due to its unbelievability quotient.

While Rap's dissertation on the history of overalls is enlightening and informative, it is extremely factual and, therefore, exhibits a very low BS quotient. My thesis, on the other hand, is entirely speculative, fabricated, made up, and has no grounding in reality. It sparkles with unadulterated BS, giving it a very high BS quotient.

So, for the purposes of this, The Mother of All BS Threads, I win! Mom likes me best!

Au contraire, mon vieux Bee-Dub. The first "overalls" were made by Levi Strauss et al. in canvas/denim and were held up by braces (suspenders). In the late 19th/early 20th Century the "bib and braces" work clothing you refer to came about. "Overalls" probably date to the 17th/18th Century as protective clothing for slaves.

Around 1870 the US Army issued "overalls" to cavalry units so that troopers cleaning out the stables wouldn't get their wool uniforms all nasty dirty. These were made of tan cotton and were found so comfortable, especially in hot climates (e.g., the American West, Florida) that other units began to use them instead of their good old woolies. Eventually, cotton replaces wool as the material of choice for uniforms except for cold weather uniforms and certain dress uniforms.

"Overalls" and "jeans" and "denims" and "coveralls" have been pretty much synonymous throughout their lifetime.

I'm more than a pretty face, you know.

There is a subtle difference between overalls and coveralls. Coveralls are worn (often over regular clothes) for protection or safety. Overalls are worn by silly people trying to make fashion statements.

Your mechanic wears coveralls. The dreadlocked kid at the Widespread Panic concert wears overalls.

Good Bee-Dub, overalls are quite nice. Please search things like "women in overalls" and "men in overalls". Moreover, I grew up wearing overalls and still do when blowing snow (now the overalls are insulated). They can't be beat for firing greenware or loading kilns, although I'd recommend Nomex for that stuff.

Mom!

What is this "overall scheme of things" people talk about? When I see people wearing overalls, "scheme" is not the first word that comes to mind. "Scheme" implies a well thought out plan created by an intelligent brain. "Overalls" implies goofy looking things worn by people who are incapable of threading belts through the loops of regular pairs of pants.

And if there is an overall scheme of things, exactly what are the "things" one would normally associate with overalls? Red bandannas? Work boots caked with horse shit?

In time 4 to 8 different Higgish Bosons will be acknowledged.

The popcorn boson, the bean boson, the broccoli boson and the silent but deadly boson.

The smaller the enclosed space, the slower in time they decay.

"The heaviest fermion is the top quark, but it is too heavy itself for the Higgs to decay into. The next is the bottom quark – and theoretical calculations suggest the Higgs should decay into a bottom quark and anti-quark 60% of the time. The third is the tau particle, which weighs almost half as much as the bottom quark and to which the boson decays only 6% of the time.

But the problem is that hadron colliders – Large or not – also produce an abundance of bottom quarks through other mechanisms. The rules of quantum chromodynamics (QCD: the study of quarks and gluons) enable some in particular that produce lots of bottom quarks." (From here).

I also have been known to produce occasional bottom quarks; I usually just make excuses and leave the room for a while. But no-one ever celebrates it in scientific circles as far as I have been told.

That's a lot of saints. With that many, they should probably specialize. Catherine could be the patron saint of porcelain. Goar could be the redeemer of persistent glaze faults. Justina could specialize in raku.

So are:

Catherine of Alexandria
Goar of Aquitaine
Justina of Seville
Radegunde
Rufina of Seville

Of these, only Justina and Rufina (sister) have anything to do with pottery, being daughters of a potter who smashed all the pots instead of selling them when they found out the pots would be used in a pagan ceremony. They were also pretty much immediately became martyrs.

Saint Spyridon is the patron saint of potters. The story is that he picked up a piece of broken pottery and it burst into flames and disappeared. I don't see why doing that would make him the patron saint of potters. Now, if he had lowered the price of cobalt carbonate to $10.00 a pound, that would be a true miracle.

Saint Dougal the Drunken of Dangle, Ireland. He was the saint who turned spring water into beer! He was the founder of the McBride clan back around the year 689 A.D., leading to many generations of drunken and disreputable layabouts and scoundrels who have now spread in a diaspora all across the western world, as far north as Ellesmere Island and as far south as Tierra Del Fuego. Shane claims to be a direct descendant of Saint Dougal the Drunken.

Mom never worries about her top or bottom falling off. She only swims at clothing optional beaches. And if she can't find such a beach, she carries, in the trunk of her Yugo, a large sign saying

CLOTHING OPTIONAL BEACH!
IF NUDITY OFFENDS YOU,
JUST FUCKIN' LEAVE!

that she sticks in the sand. Nobody gets to tell Mom where she can and can't get some sun on her buns!
