Mom!

What is this "overall scheme of things" people talk about? When I see people wearing overalls, "scheme" is not the first word that comes to mind. "Scheme" implies a well thought out plan created by an intelligent brain. "Overalls" implies goofy looking things worn by people who are incapable of threading belts through the loops of regular pairs of pants.

And if there is an overall scheme of things, exactly what are the "things" one would normally associate with overalls? Red bandannas? Work boots caked with horse shit?

Poetry used in Pagan ceremonies sounds like smashing good fun.

Interview with the Sun

" SO Great Britain is playing as England again? I think En gland is aa beautiful name. and you don't hear it very much anymore like PRussia or back in the USSR. I was listening to a Brooklyn Dodgers game on the wireless while sitting on my Ottoman Empire furniture when heard Croakasia beat England..."

The most fearsome place one can encounter bottom quarks is in elevators, specially when one's destination is many floors distant.

I assume all my pottery will be used in pagan ceremonies of some sort. Many of my coffee mugs are used by worshipers of the great god Money as they perform ritual preparations for their morning commutes.

In time 4 to 8 different Higgish Bosons will be acknowledged.

The popcorn boson, the bean boson, the broccoli boson and the silent but deadly boson.

The smaller the enclosed space, the slower in time they decay.

"The heaviest fermion is the top quark, but it is too heavy itself for the Higgs to decay into. The next is the bottom quark – and theoretical calculations suggest the Higgs should decay into a bottom quark and anti-quark 60% of the time. The third is the tau particle, which weighs almost half as much as the bottom quark and to which the boson decays only 6% of the time.

But the problem is that hadron colliders – Large or not – also produce an abundance of bottom quarks through other mechanisms. The rules of quantum chromodynamics (QCD: the study of quarks and gluons) enable some in particular that produce lots of bottom quarks." (From here).

I also have been known to produce occasional bottom quarks; I usually just make excuses and leave the room for a while. But no-one ever celebrates it in scientific circles as far as I have been told.

Regarding Justina and Rufina....all ceremonies are "pagan" from someone's point of view. It sounds like a pretty silly reason to smash up a bunch of pottery.

Speaking of hobbies my last three 15+ ft canvasses are all of the cloud tops of Jupiter. Blue, blue sienna and red yellow.

The violence of the convections is portrayed in an ethereal peacefulness from orbit.

20 years ago I did miniature versions by stirring lacquers.

That's a lot of saints. With that many, they should probably specialize. Catherine could be the patron saint of porcelain. Goar could be the redeemer of persistent glaze faults. Justina could specialize in raku.

So are:

Catherine of Alexandria
Goar of Aquitaine
Justina of Seville
Radegunde
Rufina of Seville

Of these, only Justina and Rufina (sister) have anything to do with pottery, being daughters of a potter who smashed all the pots instead of selling them when they found out the pots would be used in a pagan ceremony. They were also pretty much immediately became martyrs.

Saint Spyridon is the patron saint of potters. The story is that he picked up a piece of broken pottery and it burst into flames and disappeared. I don't see why doing that would make him the patron saint of potters. Now, if he had lowered the price of cobalt carbonate to $10.00 a pound, that would be a true miracle.

St. Michael the Annoying still lives, sort of, and canonized himself. He thinks that the Pope probably shouldn't know that because the Swiss Guards have a special operations unit which turns people like that into instant martyrs.

Saint Dougal the Drunken of Dangle, Ireland. He was the saint who turned spring water into beer! He was the founder of the McBride clan back around the year 689 A.D., leading to many generations of drunken and disreputable layabouts and scoundrels who have now spread in a diaspora all across the western world, as far north as Ellesmere Island and as far south as Tierra Del Fuego. Shane claims to be a direct descendant of Saint Dougal the Drunken.

Mom never worries about her top or bottom falling off. She only swims at clothing optional beaches. And if she can't find such a beach, she carries, in the trunk of her Yugo, a large sign saying

CLOTHING OPTIONAL BEACH!
IF NUDITY OFFENDS YOU,
JUST FUCKIN' LEAVE!

that she sticks in the sand. Nobody gets to tell Mom where she can and can't get some sun on her buns!

My old stomping grounds in California are simmering in 118ºF heat. It makes our local North Carolinian 88ºF seem merely balmy im comparison.

We had a grand song circle with Mudcatters Jeni B and Frieda in attendance with a clutch of local area musicians chiming in, including the redoubtable Abby Sale.

Good times, indeedio!

An unstable is a place where you don't keep horses. The military used to have am Unstable bugle call for everyone who wasn't in the cavalry; it was sounded to have the troops come out and clean everything that wasn't stable. Here is Stable Call. Now take out your bugle and play it backwards for Mom.

I believe BWL has identified an essential Mudcat paradox. The threads are pulled apart out of the degenerating posts-- and I don't doubt that often some kind of gin is involved. Thus, we see so many copycat threads and threads replacing clothed threads. Yet logic tells us that no matter how accurately this describes what occurs, logically it doesn't work. But then it's the kind of day where all sorts of "cantbe" things are appearing side by side. There being no gin available, my choices are covfefe or tonic. Hm... why not mix them! :-)

Hi, Mom!

I have had to procure yet another wee mousie for this computer. The previous one did not merely stop working, but expired rather violently when a lightning strike fried the poor little thing. It happened to be in my hand at the time, and I received a nasty shock. At first, I thought lighting had struck the house itself, but it turned out to have only hit nearby and sent a voltage spike down the power line and right into the poor little mousie's electronic innards. The computer itself seems to be undamaged.

The new mousie is wireless, though I don't suppose that makes it entirely immune to future voltage spikes. The little USB gizmo that makes it work is still vulnerable. But, at least, my hand won't be in direct contact with anything physically attached to the computer.
