So I spoke with my youngest brother last night and he said he was coming down with bronchitis. Today he went to the doctor, from the doctor the ER in an ambulance, where he coded. Now he's in Cardiac Intensive Care in piss poor condition.

My uncle dies, my wife has breast cancer, and now this. This is, truly, the year we must remember to forget. In fact, I'd like to reboot and start over.

Aw, Mike. I know some years are just like this. I had one a while back and it was a game-changer, to be sure. Good thing he went to see his doctor, and good thing they got him to intensive care. Now he needs to get better. Let's hope it's not quite so long an episode as Spaw's recent experience.

I just returned from a 6-day trip to Yellowstone. It was colder there.

My little brother is in a medically induced hypothermic coma, but he did respond to a request to blink his eyes. They are slowly warming him up and at 96F they should be getting an idea of any brain damage. (My other brother asked me "How do you suppose they could tell if there was any?" and I replied, "That's why they're highly paid physicians." We can do that to each other.)

I wanna start 2011 over, okay?

I spent all day yesterday and most of the day today putting the new book bins in place. They are beautiful! They are child-height and have room to face the picture books outward so the artwork on the cover will show. Whew! After rearranging the furniture and plotting the layout, I'm ready for a long nap.

No change: still on dialysis, still has lower-than-desired BP, still will respond to voice commands (blink your eyes, etc.), still unconscious, still wired and tubes in nearly every natural orifice.

We leave tomorrow, flying out of SLC at 2:05 for St. Louie, where we'll rent a car. We'll be gone for a week (Amos, the cops are watching the house while we're gone -- just a word to the wise). I'll be checking in periodically.

What I did not mention in the other thread is his ability to hash songs into extremely funny parodies. E.g.,

He drove his car to the racing ground
He was the only driver there.

does in "Tell Laura I Love Her". I wish I could remember all of them.
