For 60 years, she sought out ghost stories, superstitions and tales of buried treasure, as well as songs handed down from generation to generation -fishing songs, work songs and love songs. Creighton helped define Maritime culture as we know it; thanks to her, folk songs moved out of the kitchens and the fishing boats and into the mainstream. Top contemporary Maritime musicians such as Mary Jane Lamond, Lennie Gallant and Raylene Rankin discuss Creighton's influence. |

It's a nice production, with a good mix of contemporary and archival film footage. My only complaint is that not one of the songs (old or new) is sung all the way through -- but that's par for the course on these things, unfortunately. ~ Becky in Tucson |
