The Fintown Girl's Lament is the name of a tune. Fintown is a village in Donegal and I suppose that's where fiddler John Doherty heard a lass singing a song to this air. I have it on an album of Fiddle Music of Donegal fiddle music, played by Mick Brown of Dublin who learned the air from James Byrne of Gleann Cholm Cille in County Donegal. Now I would like to know what lyrics go to the air. The air is similar to that of the Magherafelt May Fair, but played more slowly and mournfully.
