Yes the tune has changed too - described as "The Farmers Toast" mind you that was by the same person who is telling me I can't put music on the website...
The reworked version has milk stout and caviar in, that's about all I can remember.

Yes, Of course, The DT version is the original....
John Tams adapted it however, early in the 90's (I think that the Folk Police wouldn't approve Ho Hum !!) and when I've had me dinner, I'll spend several hours trying to type out Tams' version!!

FYI also, Kinder Downfall is the name of a waterfall on the hill Kinder Scout in the Peak District (the location of the Mass Trespass when EMacC wrote the song). See this map reference. And indeed it's a lovely view from there on a sunny day.

Don't know many walkers who like deep bracken though. It's always hot and humid, and all the local midge population lives in there...

Thanks for the spell check Noreen, I'd spotted Wainstones but forgot to sort it out, didn't spot McColl. Typically, the ftp program then couldn't get a connection... Glad you liked the site though.
There's other things you can do in deep bracken besides walk, Graham!
And I believe MacColl was press secretary for the ramblers when the mass trespass occurred.
