A TV advert for Clover Spread is using the tune "The Wild Rover" albeit with different words at the present time. Quite a catchy little number and goes well.

While on this topic, what is the lovely tune that is being used to advertise Scotland on TV. It is a really slow lilting melody and I would love to be able to play all of it on my fiddle!

Not folk, but ... There is a tv ad in Oz for a product called Ajax Spray & Wipe, I couldn't watch/listen to the ad for years because it bugged me so much trying to think of where the tune came from.

Finally, late last year a friend of ours said that it is Ian Dury's song   called Billericay Dickie. Now I can stand to be in the room while the ad is on, because my brain has stopped twisting into knots every time I hear it. Love Ian Dury's stuff.

Old Spice shaving supplies used to use Scotland the Brave. Don't know if they still do.

The tune they uesd to use to advertise Scotland a couple of years ago was Wild Mountain Thyme ("Will ye go, lassie, go..?") but as I don't have a TV, I don't know if that's what they still use.

There's a couple of Shanties advertising stuff if I remember rightly. One where a concertina gets cut in half - Can't remember what they advertise though:(

There was an advert taking the p!"£ out of Morris dancers that made me think 'Oh, how original.' Can't remember that either.

Not much help am I. Still, it keeps the old, erm, thingy, whatsit, grey something, going though...

Guinness, Tullamoore Dew, Jamesons and Harp have all had ads with trad music in the background. One of the classics was a Guinness ad showing a curragh (light traditional boat) bringing a keg of the black stuff out to one of the Gaelic speaking islands.
