Subject: RE: New Website - British Library From: Malcolm Douglas Date: 22 May 03 - 08:55 PM It's a pity there isn't -so far as I can tell- a "browse" option, but everything has to start somewhere. The Traditional Music Project at the British Library site is at http://www.bl.uk/collections/sound-archive/traditional_music.html; this, too, is rather limited at the moment but may grow if funding allows. The main BL site is at http://www.bl.uk/. Catalogues can now be searched online, but the kind of funding that the Library of Congress gets is only a dream for us in the UK, so don't expect to see a great deal freely available online in the near future. People who want copies of things will still have to pay for them for quite some time yet. See also this thread from a couple of years back: New Website - British Library |

Subject: RE: New Website From: MMario Date: 22 May 03 - 12:47 PM A bit cumbersome to navigate through or search - but I suspect that will be corrected. |

Subject: New Website From: GUEST,Donal Date: 22 May 03 - 02:47 AM The British Library has at last put up a site accessible to all and sundry; at first sight there doesn't appear to be many songs on it, but I can't claim to have searched thoroughly. There are, however, lots of non-music things which would appear to be worth a look. Don. |
