Subject: LYR REQ; From: Bob Boy Date: 09 Aug 98 - 05:30 PM Looking for the lyrics and the name of the song that begins "I want to be where the warm winds blowin' Layin' in the noonday sun. I want to go where the palm trees swayin..." And who was the female singer that featured it? Must have been 1980-1985. |
Subject: RE: LYR REQ; From: Bert Date: 10 Aug 98 - 04:14 PM It's funny how one request reminds you of another song. I remember as a kid there was a childrens show on steam radio in England, all about pirates. What little I remember of the theme tune is.... Fare well my hearties and the ship was set to sea when the warm winds are blowing in the High Barbaree... Bert |

I'm smiling because I've just been trying to find out exactly what you wanted to know in 1998. The villain was Meester Calamanco and he offered people sugar plooms in a very sinister way. I always sing that song in a lovely wind, and what I sing is So fare thee well my dearie, my ship will set to sea, when the warm winds are blowing on the High Barbaree. Sorry I have no more information than that. |

> > This brought the old tune back to mind although I do not expect to hear it in the movie. > > The lyrics which I have never forgotten are "Fare thee well my dearie,my ship will put to sea when the warm winds are blowing on the high Barbaree" > > I punched these words into Google and up popped Mudcat site with a couple of readers discussing this tune.I think that the earliest writer was in 1998. Anybody have more words to the writer's "High Barbaree" song? Bert? -Joe- |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: ... to be where the warm wind's blowin' From: GUEST,BLG Date: 25 Apr 20 - 11:09 AM I remember that this was the theme tune to a (serial?) play on BBC Children' Hour. The key to the song was that it was a clue to the search (for treasure?), which was found where it came to land, when a model ship, with its sails set as found, was launched at a specific point on a lake in the High Barbary when the Warm Winds were blowing. |
