I wonder about this question often! What exactly is it for you?

New Love, old love, tired love, no love, just love, universal love, cold hearted lovelike imitations, hard times, drama, wishes, realities gone fantastic, mundane patterns gone magical, great new melodies that just need to be snug, great old snogs that are just begging to be filked, celibacy, instantanious free love, Christ, Dreams, Nightmares, the best laugh you have had in a week, or a wild trainwreck at a loelife crossroad... or what?

To judge from my output of late, nothing. I haven't written a new song, nor made significant changes to existing ones, since 2001, and that was a "sparce year." I don't write to specific criteria or under specific circumstances, so I don't know what gives me the "urge." The problem is that I can't artificially induce a song simply by putting myself into a "trigger" situation.

I write snogs for lots of different reasons. It just depends. The only way I can describe it is, when they're ripe, they fall off the tree, and I have to be there to catch 'em.

I'm mostly concerned with the writing of prevaricatious snogs that beckon bread and butter passion from gatherings of the lustfully disinterested workaholics, reminiscing amoung the cut fowler arrangements...

I once knew several cut fowlers. Poor chaps, they kept rearranging themselves, hoping to find lustily interested snogs. Are these the sort of cut fowlers you had in mind? They could prevaricate with the best of them.

You can write Love Snogs or Erotic Snogs (see another thread) or humourous snogs. What you find as funny in a snog some people might not appreciate. Serious snogs are had work whereas a funny snog can be looked upon as a through-away until you are good at snogging.

Ahh, I yearn the good old days when we could write snogs without worry of threats, foot odor, or peeling paint. But now, I find that snog-writing has become snog-righting where you must not only correct any wrong snogs you meet, but also hold them up when they have fallen down.

So, when the snog is written and you feel satisfied with it's completeness, and you are humming little finger patterns through it's lovely modal form... Ah yes... waking up with your new snog... mmmmmmmm! Oh! Where was I...?

I don't try to change them, myself... it's a sporting thing... kinda like busking without putting in the seed money, and seeing if you can predict who will break the ice...

Love snogs sure do change my hair style... especially durring the collection of their 'imperical data'.

Brang new snogs infatuate/infuriate friendship factions... Oh, btw, is it considered proper to indulge while creating, and/or, how long should you wait before desert? ttr

Ya know, I used to write snogs. In fact, I wrote a lot of snogs. I was known as the snog master. In fact, some said it became a serious problem in my life, but I never believed them. Sometimes a sentence or a phrase will just start echoing round my head to a particular tune (always borrowed, I've only once written a tune ~ I can only remember it because I programmed it into my cellphone as a ring tone!), or a group of words will suggest a story and a rhythmn.....   

Then the difficult bit starts.

Often the hardest part is finishing the story without going on for 87 more verses.

On, on, on... tooligan. The question was what perspires you to snog rite. For me it's a compulsion to communicate my observations, emotions and feelings on life. The downside of it is you have to wear yourself out with too many late nights, deep thoughts and much heartache and alcohol poisoning before you can snog rite good.

Cerialously, speaking of communication, a bad snog can right many wrongs, and a good snog will wright conclusive catharsis... and this tickles many fancies at once. But who actually writes snogs anyway? The ones I pen were captured in the wild, as apparitions delivered to my fantacy sanctuary's managerie...

But yes, the snogs that stick around on their own are the keepers...

Tooligan all sorts of things move you to write
but for some it could just be the commercialism, the thought of making money that drives some on or the idea of fame.
my other half tries to write and thinks that she does not have to share them with anyone. It may be that she does not think they are good enough but sometimes she says "why do they have to be shared ..I wrote them for myself no-one else". So we have these silly discussions about does it exist if no-one hears it. I keep trying to persuade her to record them but have failed so far.
I am envious of those who can express ideas in music.
