Subject: Leighton Buzzard UK, 8th June - Festival From: Julie B Date: 28 May 03 - 01:43 PM Volunteer musicians required for tune sessions at: Linslade (Leighton Buzzard) WATERSIDE & CANAL EVENT - Sunday 8th June Conservation and heritage event with canal art & rural craft demonstrations, Wicket Brood & Bedfordshire Lace Morris Dancers, folk music, narrow boats and working boats, Leighton Lady canal trips, children's activities & hands on crafts, heritage and wildlife exhibits, refreshments, lakeside walk" This is the first event of it's kind in Linslade; the Council are hoping it will go well and become an annual one. Two music sessions are provisionally planned, taking the form of a normal impromptu pub type "tune sessions" (no amplification available) at 1pm-2pm & 3pm-4pm. There will be a music marquee to use as a base - either for playing in if it's wet, or playing in front of if it's lovely and sunny (which of course it will be!). All musicians welcome - the more the merrier. Venue: Tiddenfoot Waterside Park, Mentmore Road, Linslade (next to Cedars Upper School) For details, see the June entry for http://leighton-linslade.org.uk/events/events_frame.htm and contact Donna Hughes at the Town Council on 01525 631915. Subject: RE: Leighton Buzzard UK, 8th June - Festival From: Julie B Date: 29 May 03 - 06:49 AM Latest information from Donna Hughes... The Music Marquee will be situated at the far end of the right hand gravel path (which runs along the front of the lake), up the slope just before the junction with the canal side footpath. Chairs provided. It's a short walk (about 6 minutes) from the main car park area. The programme has panned out slightly differently from the provisional one. This is to give people a chance to have a look round the rest of the event as the dancers are keen to try to fit in a canal trip if possible - but if people want to play for longer there is plenty of room on the site to find a nice spot in which to carry on - under the trees on the way up to the boats for example, which would be fun. 11.15 am - 12.00 noon Morris Dancers 12.00 noon - 1.00 pm Heath Band 1 pm - 1.30 pm Folk Music Open Session 1.30 pm - 2.15 pm Morris Dancing 2.15 pm - 3.15 pm Folk Music Open Session 3.15 - 4 pm Morris Dancing Hope this fits in with everyone. Parking is available at Linslade Middle School, Cedars Upper School (front area), Tiddenfoot Leisure Centre (spaces allowing) and Mentmore Road. Fingers crossed for a sunny, well attended and enjoyable event. Donna |
