I'll be running an Acoustic Night tomorrow, Friday 30th May, at the Masons Arms, Harpers Lane, Chorley, Lancs PR6 0HU, starting at 9pm. It's being billed as "Joan Blackburn & Friends", is free, and hopefully will be the first of many Fridays, if it takes off. I'd love to see friends old and new, whether singers, musicians, poets or plain audience. If you can possibly make it, please come and support the new venture.

Joan

Hi Joan.........

Is this the one??? Map

Unfortunely we playing "around the corner" at the "Woodlands Campus" for American students tonight (makes a change they're usually German or French1)otherwise we would have popped in... Ian (The Ian Gartside Band) is looking for a couple of local folk venues as part of the "back to Roots" tour so if you fancy a "Guest Night" we might be able to help? Acoustic or PA.....

let us know how it goes and we'll try and pop in to a future event...

Pete

Joan,
Sorry can't make it tonight, as much I'd like to give my support to a new venture. Just got back from Hols in "sunny" Bulgaria, but will be back in Seven Stars on Thursday.

Good Luck Again.
Leighton

Pete, thanks for the map link, yes, that's the one. The landlord is asking me to do much the same as I do at my other venues, which is basically singaround, with tunes and poems/monologues just as welcome as songs. Something to interest his customers and hopefully stop them wandering off to other pubs. Don't think he's wanting guest artistes booked, at least at the moment, but who knows...

Leighton, hope you had a good holiday, will look forward to seeing you next Thursday.

Have had a few pledges of support, and am looking forward to a good first night. Will report back.

Joan

There were eleven of us there, of whom seven took leads in singing. Many thanks to everyone who came. We had a really good night, and the landlord was pleased. I don't know yet when the next session will be, I've to ring the landlord on Tuesday. I did promise last night that I'd post to Mudcat to remind people, but from the look of Max's message, I won't be able to because the 'Cat will be down. If people read this message before it goes down, please email me at joanblackburn@btinternet.com to find out what's happening.

And following that successful "trial run", the official opening night will be this Friday, 20th June. It would be great to see as many people there as possible, so if you're anywhere near Chorley this Friday, please come and lend your support. Start time is 9pm and admission is free. Bring your songs, tunes, poems, monologues, or just your ears. See you there!

Joan
