L just ran across a site devoted to Pierre Cruzatte, the fiddler who accompanied the Lewis and Clark expedition. http://www.primenet.com/~danslos/cruzatte/home.html

An article on the site suggests Irish and British tunes as part of his repetory. The first thing that came to my mind was, he was French! I don't, however, know anything much about French or French Canadian fiddle music of the period. Any suggestions would be helpful. thanks, David Christian
