Subject: One Lesson From: black walnut Date: 30 May 03 - 07:17 AM I had one guitar lesson yesterday from Eve Goldberg. It's amazing how much you can find out in one hour. I've been playing guitar in a beginner fashion for many years (I'm mostly a piano/harp/dulcimer type person). Having a lesson with a good teacher is so inspiring! Just one hour. Really worth it! ~black walnut |

Subject: RE: One Lesson From: RichM Date: 30 May 03 - 09:22 AM Eve Goldberg, a fantastic musician AND a wonderful person. Met her in the mid '90's at the Woods Music Camp. Wish I could have taken her offer to play upright Bass for her but 250 miles separated us.... say hi to her from: Rich McCarthy |
Subject: RE: One Lesson From: black walnut Date: 30 May 03 - 01:48 PM I've been to every Woods since 1994. Amazing place! And sure I'll say hi to Eve for you, Rich. ~b.w. |

Subject: RE: One Lesson From: black walnut Date: 30 May 03 - 03:23 PM Uh, oh! The Woods maniacs are beginning to climb out of their cupboards. The Woods is a music and dance camp for grownups. Well, it's more than that, isn't it. It's good friends, good food, much laughter, excellent leadership, many and various instruments and singers and dancers everywhere all the time, except for when they're swimming or canoeing or eating or changing strings. And it's ONLY 75 DAYS AWAYYYYY!!!! ~b.w. |
Subject: RE: One Lesson From: black walnut Date: 30 May 03 - 03:24 PM I should add that it's in Canada - Ontario - Muskoka. Loon country. ~b.w. |
Subject: RE: One Lesson From: Eric the Viking Date: 30 May 03 - 04:00 PM I'd like a lesson with Ian Stephenson ! |
Subject: RE: One Lesson From: Mooh Date: 30 May 03 - 04:45 PM I'd love to take in The Woods, but alas, my holidays get spent elsewise. Have met Eve though, at an OCFF conference a few years back, and jammed. Have also a short demo-like cassette of Eve, good stuff. Small world, ain't it? Peace, Mooh. |
Subject: RE: One Lesson From: black walnut Date: 30 May 03 - 06:08 PM The reason I took this one lesson from Eve was because my daughter was scheduled for her guitar lesson, but had 5 projects on the go for school this week. So I filled in for her (very willingly!). In my lesson I worked on a couple of songs I already know, but usually play on piano. That way I could concentrate on the guitar rather than on learning a new song. Eric the V ~ maybe you could expand on that? Mooh ~ change your vacation plans! And check out Eve's newest CD (Borealis). Anyone else ~ who would you like to take one (music) lesson from, and why? ~b.w. |
Subject: RE: One Lesson From: 8_Pints Date: 31 May 03 - 10:43 AM I feel rather spoilt since our annual Northumbrian Small Pipe gathering in September, Manchester, UK is usually supported by tutors who provide an hours' tuition to groups of 4 or 5 players in concurrent sessions. Last year the tutor's were Colin Ross, Andy May, Andrew Davison, Adrian Schofield and Pauline Cato. Its amazing to experience and compare the different styles and techniques all in the same day! Each is different and of course I couldn't chosse one in preference to anyone else. This rounded off by a concert performance in the evening where we get to demonstrate our newly acquired skills.
