I just heard this sung by Betty Madigan on PBS, The Guy Lombardo show, and I loved it. The name of the song was 'Joey'. I hope you found it long ago. I was so impressed I had to google her.

I have a hunch the one you want is this song, sung by Debbie Reynolds, first on her 1975 LP "Tammy" and now available on the double-CD "Cocktail Hour". Sorry, I don't have complete lyrics. These words transcribed from a sound sample at Yahoo! Music:

*Note that this line exactly fits the rhythm of "Joey made me change my name." I suspect that line comes later in the song.
