I haven't been posting much lately but I've really missed Mudcat. The CD I launched back in December has done well and I'm just getting ready to have another run made up, so I thought I'd celebrate by putting one on the Mudcat Auction. Lots of people have asked me how I came up with the title "Of Rogues and Lovers". It has always seemed to me that one of the greatest thing about ballads are the characters you meet, and "Rogues and Lovers" seemed to fit well with the contents of the album. Happy lovers, like "Bonnie Jean o'Bethelnie", unhappy ones like the hapless "Mattie Groves", despicable rogues like the Captain in "The Golden Vanity" and likeable ones like "The Newry Highwayman". I really enjoyed making this album, and I hope whoever gets it enjoys listening.
