Subject: New Auction Item - Maryrrf CD (ballads) From: Maryrrf Date: 05 Jun 03 - 10:49 AM Hello, folks, I haven't been posting much lately but I've really missed Mudcat. The CD I launched back in December has done well and I'm just getting ready to have another run made up, so I thought I'd celebrate by putting one on the Mudcat Auction. There's a description of it under the Auction items, and here's a link to the page on my website where you can listen to samples: http://maryfsmith.freeservers.com/recordings.htm Lots of people have asked me how I came up with the title "Of Rogues and Lovers". It has always seemed to me that one of the greatest thing about ballads are the characters you meet, and "Rogues and Lovers" seemed to fit well with the contents of the album. Happy lovers, like "Bonnie Jean o'Bethelnie", unhappy ones like the hapless "Mattie Groves", despicable rogues like the Captain in "The Golden Vanity" and likeable ones like "The Newry Highwayman". I really enjoyed making this album, and I hope whoever gets it enjoys listening. |
