I am trying to trace the identity of an Artist who I recall did an acoustic number on top of the pops, I think around 1970,or just after. I believe his nickname was " the Pug" and think he may have been scandinavian. Anyone any ideas?

The only performer (using the word rather loosly) that I've come across by the name is a member of "The Celebrated Onion Band" from Walton-on-the-Naze, Essex - he's the one in the middle). Pug doesn't actually sing folk songs (mind you I don't think anyone has ever explained the term to him) - he sort of grabs them by the throat and kicks the sh*t out of them. With his attack and diction, you could be excused for thinking that he was from the other side of the North Sea.
