What a nice suprise to release this on my birthday !! Unfortunately I'll be on the beachs of St Petersburg Florida near where I grew up. Fellow mudcatter Ironmule { my older brother } will be there too - but we'll be thinking of you. Best of luck on this one. I wish I could be there.

1,000,000 thanks to Joe for our first formal review of the CD:

"Chance and Susette Shiver, have issued a new CD, THE SHIVERS ON THE AIR, and I am happy to declaim: IT IS GREAT! But, what is it? Is it a neat selection of well-performed old-time country songs? It is indeed that. Or is it a delightfully funny old-time radio program? It is certainly that too. Well, to tell the truth, it is both!

Chance and Susette have joined together with fellow musicians Scottie Giambusso, Robert Spates, and Robbie Robinson, radio announcer Michael Scanlan, and producer/engineer Bob Hitchcock to record a well-paced, old-time rural radio program complete with mock commercials, hilarious dialogues, and great songs, with appropriate live audience responses. The selection and performances are all good. My current favorites are "Cannonball Blues" (great guitar work and play), "Crow Black Chicken" (makes me hungry), the story of Aunt Flory's abduction by aliens (they returned her to earth after she cooked them a meal), and the commercial about the wind-up vacuum cleaner, the Honeyville Hummer ("It really sucks!"). And Susette's vocal on "Foggy Mountain Top" reminds me very much of one of the Kossoy Sisters (but I can't tell which one).

All in all, and in a word: "It's Great Music and Great Fun!" and "Don't Miss It If You Can!"

OUCH! "She broke her arm in two places - the back porch and ..." This is my first time hearing Susette and Chance together and I loved it. Best line - the Arabian horse. Best song - tough one. Sorry Chance but Susette's "Foggy Mountain Top" did it for me. But then, so did Cannonball Blues. This CD has all the music and charm of an old time Country radio show minus the static. Wonderful tunes, great musicians (an amazing fiddle), and just plain fun. I do love hearing those old time harmonies.

Just finished listening to the CD!!!! that I received earlier in the week, WONDERFUL!!!!! I love so many tracks that I can't seperate (Foggy Mountain top, Peach picking time in Georgia...)them,. Well done you Guys, It was a time coming but worth the wait!! and the rest of you 'catters...If you havent heard it go and get it!!! it would be cheap at twice the price!!

More huzzahs from Ruth and me, Chance and Susette! The Cd is great fun. I hope that it is a wonderful door opener for both of you! There's nothing like the two of you around, so I'm not sure who to compare you to. The closest I can come is to the New Lost City Ramblers, who sprinkled their performance with old groaners that could make even the most determined grouch laugh. I still remember some of them, and I hear them in 1961!

Jerry, my friend, thanks so much. I never heard the NLCR live, but they are great sources for the lyrics and history of tunes and we are great admirers of theirs. I had no idea they told some old groaners, but they know the genre better than anyone, and I'm not surprised if threw in some Uncle Dave Macon and Skillet Licker's 'groaners'.

I'm very proud that you and Ruth enjoy the CD. Please give her our best. Hope to see you guys sometime.
