Grant Gary Weisbrot, woodworking artisan, graphic designer, and mandolinist of New Orleans, Louisiana, died of natural causes some time around June 8, 2003. I say "around" because Grant was home alone when he passed away. After no one had seen him or heard from him in several days, his sister asked the police to break into his house. They found him in bed, having apparently succumbed to a heart attack. He was only 55 years old.

How sad.

That was one of my brother's biggest fears..dying alone and nobody knowing for days. Now that he lives closer to family it is not as much of a concern, thankfully.

I knew Grant in the 70s. He was a very talented individual.
The only reason I lknow about his death is because of Alex Chiltons.
They were friends and my girlfriend decided, out ofcuroisity,
to Google Grant.
How strange , 2 heart young.

Maybe it's long enough ago for the obvious tasteless pun...

My name is Sandra -
Grant was a friend 1970/71...
we shared a love of 30's 20's old time music...listening endlessly to LPs ... sometime Alex Chilton joined us after a greasy spoon breakfast on Staten Island (where Grant lived at the time),
...Sundays in Washington Sq. park, some Friday nights at the South Street Seaport--- the NY Post caught us square dancing one week and claimed we were the hippest dancers on the pier--- (the camera guy knew Grant and made sure we hit the front page)...
......we hung out and watched people from our ringside seat on the floor of Grand Central Station...
...our budgets were small.. and often shared Life-savers as a meal...he liked bananas and I orange...
...we spent lots of groovy Saturday afternoons in the big FAO Schwartz toy
...when it was time for me to start grad school in San Francisco..Grant asked me to marry wasn't to be..
which did I want for a goodbye gift ...a ring or a life size Raggedy Ann doll--- to this day I still have the doll.

RIP Grant---you remain in my heart and soul
