Hi Laurel!
Sounds like you're having a good time. Will look forward to hearing about it when you get back. My trip to Maine was excellent as well, but no time to get in touch with those Maine catters, unfortunately.
Keep in touch.
Mike

i am visiting friends here and so have comöputer access.
it6 is wet here in the summer-something we never dream of in calif.
and verrrrrrrrrrrry light....not exactly the mid night sun,
but the midnight dawn or dusk...and mid sommer isd the
best time to be here! the nyckelharpa stamma is always
the weekend before mid sommer, so 2 great reasons to be here!!

I like the sound of the nyckelharpa. Is it hard to play? Easier or harder than a violin?

i am in sverige and last weekend there was a fantastic nyckelharpa festival. the Österbybruk gathering in unique in all the world!!
There must have been hundreds of nyckelharpa there+one hurdy gurdy.
what an immersiion into swedish folk music! i was able to meet one
of the fellows in a swedish band who will be touring in the u.s. Bjårv. [www.bjarv.com] also able to meet the American Nyckelharpa
