If you could move Swansea to the East Coast I'd be there

I thought that I would revive this thread, as it only on for two days??

Can anyone tell me why it disappeared so soon?

It was very good last year but this year I shall be morris dancing (and singing and playing my concertina) at the Baltica 2003 Folk Festival in Riga, Latvia. Maybe 2004?

"Dancing and singing, bell ringing ...!"

Dave, threads only stay visible for 24hrs after the latest posting- so someone has to keep it current by refreshing it if you want it to stay visible.

That is one of only two weekends between now and September whan I'm NOT away at a festival....

Hey, at the Shanty Festival in Liverpool, they were demonstrating how to MAKE a Baggyrinkle! So you could have one to take home, all for your own... :0)

Thanks Noreen & Crane Driver for answering my query.

Noreen, I have got more (w)rinkles than I need and as for the "Baggy"? No comment!

We hit on the name for our group after it was explained to me by the skipper of the Maria Asumpta what a "baggyrinkle" was. The crew had set up a display along the wall of the Swansea Maritime Museum at the 1994 Swansea Maritime festival.

Sadly, the "Grand Old Lady" was wrecked off the Cornish Coast in May 1995.

I was honoured to be invited to a memorial service in Greenwich for the Maria and for the three crew members who perished with her.

The Maria Asumpta is still fondly remembered at the Swansea Maritime Festival.

Yep! It kicks off tonight at The Queens Hotel, Gloucester Place.

Tomorrow and Sunday there will be music on the Main Stage, The Queens Hotel and the Yacht Club and also at Sainsburys Supermarket!

I'll see you there?

Can't make it from Chicago - how can I get cd's of the music in Welsh? I'm trying to learn to sing in Cymraeg, since I have so little opportunity to speak it - unless I want to drive them mad at Starrrrrbucks!

What a glorious weekend!

Beautiful weather - hot (very hot) and sunny. Great entertainment!

BUT THERE WERE NO ICE CREAM VENDORS ON SITE!! Would you believe?

Thank God for the weather - and the Queens Hotel!!

Thanks to all the performers and entertainers but most of all to the crowds of people who came and I hope, enjoyed the weekend.

Here's to the next one.
