It's a long way from NZ to Gainsborough - give me more warning next time! Have a jolly fine night .. ;) Cheers - Sam |

Subject: RE: MARTIN SIMPSON AT GAINSBOROUGH TONIGHT From: GUEST,Strollin' Johnny & Mrs. Johnny Date: 23 Jun 03 - 08:56 AM Well, about a hundred discerning music-lovers made it, and weren't we the lucky ones! Martin was, as always, awesome, he gave us a JAW-DROPPING exhibition of musicianship and mastery of his instrument, and some bloody good singing too. From the first tune (Alistair Anderson's wonderful tribute to a sadly-missed stalwart of Scunthorpe Folk Club, and friend of Martin's, "Air for Maurice Ogg"), through the whole gamut of folk and blues with a hint of jazz here and there, it was a performance of the absolute highest quality. And a big raspberry to all those boring people who say 'There's nowt to do in Gainsborough"! Johnny & Mrs. Johnny |
