Subject: RE: Elderly's Gibsons featured on PHC From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 22 Jun 03 - 10:38 PM Yeh, I bet Chris Martin was shitting his pants when he heard about all the free publicity Gibson was getting on that show. Whatcha wanna bet that there'll be a PHC road show from someplace not too far from Nazareth, PA next season? And that somebody from Martin (like Chris himself) will be feeding Pat Donahue various old Martins to play. Also, regarding Heritage guitars, they are made by a handful of former Gibson employees who didn't want to relocate when Gibson moved its operations to Nashville. They work out of the old Gibson factory, but they are not a division of Gibson. However, since Heritages are made by guys who made Gibsons for years, they are very Gibson-like. I've played a Heritage 535 which is essentially the same as Gibson's ES-335. Very nice for about half the price of the "real thing". Bruce |
Subject: RE: Elderly's Gibsons featured on PHC From: Walking Eagle Date: 22 Jun 03 - 07:22 PM I thought it was pretty cool. Elderly Instruments brought the Gibsons up. I personally liked the J-50. I'm trying to understand if Heriatge ( a subsidiary of Gibson, I suppose )is a cheaper or better Gibson. Pat Donahugh sure did make them sing, didn't he? |
Subject: Elderly's Gibsons featured on PHC From: katlaughing Date: 22 Jun 03 - 01:43 PM This week's Prairie Home Companion was really great, esp. the first half. Throughout the show, they featured six different Gibson's from Elderly Instruments, as they were broadcasting from Kalamazoo, Michigan. I esp. enjoyed the L-5 and the L-2 custom. I wished they'd just played the mando solo though, it was practically drowned out by the singing and other instruments. Anyone else catch the show? |
