Subject: RE: Lost Highway Documentry From: Once Famous Date: 31 May 04 - 12:01 PM I have the book that this show is based on in my library of books on country music history. It is one of the best. I will be watching for this show. |
Subject: RE: Lost Highway Documentry From: Big Al Whittle Date: 31 May 04 - 04:44 AM I think you'll find the first hour the best - there was a lot of interesting old footage. as I remember the last hour was about how wonderful garth Brooks is even though he's sold millions more records than anybody else that doesn't make him a bad person. the trouble about getting old is, I don't find any of his songs as memorable as oh lonesome me or jambalaya - anybody else have the same trouble? |

Subject: RE: Lost Highway Documentry From: GUEST,Fogie Date: 26 Jun 03 - 05:22 PM I watched every program from the Carter family through Willy Nelson to the girls, and onto Earle and Yokum, all watched over by people like Emmalou and Dolly. Well it was a very memorable experience, so I taped it to show to my friends, I learned a lot and thoroughly recommend it to y'all. It filled a large hole in my folk knowledge. -you know I honestly think, and I say to people in the "folk" scene in the UK -this is the folk music of today, and do you know they all look askance,- shows how much they all know. |
Subject: RE: Lost Highway Documentry From: Greycap Date: 26 Jun 03 - 04:12 PM Yep, It was fine. They did seem to miss ol' George Jones out pretty much. Watch it and give me your opinion. |

They'll be airing the 4 hour documentry "Lost Highway:The history of American Country" on July 5th and 6th,at 8 p.m. EST. I've not seen it yet,but I understand it ran in Britain last month. Perhaps some of our Mudcat friends from across the pond could enlighten us with a review. DB. |
