Just a warning to any artists considering playing at this venue near Sheffield.

Julie Ellison, a guitarist and singer/songwriter, played there in February and was re-booked for a further three gigs. At the second gig, the new manager found a way to avoid paying the full fee. Perhaps we were a bit silly to bother to honour the next booking but we did. We arrived at the venue to find that another artist had been booked and that Julie was no longer required, despite Julie confirming the booking, and sending posters and publicity material, in the week leading up to the gig.

Julie received neither an apology or payment.

Hope this helps others to avoid getting stung. Needless to say Julie will not be playing there again: the remaining date has been cancelled.

If Julie is a member of the M U or of Equity they will help in legal proceedings for compensation.It ia wll worth it for ALL working musicians to get a Union behind them to voic things like this happeneing.
