Once again Mudcat needs a donation or two so why not buy a mudcat tee shirt for recognition at this years festivals.
I have all sizes from Small to XXX Large at £12 each.
There are also a few embroidered patches left at £3-50 each.
Send me a PM to let me know your size and I will post it to you
Cheers Bill

Having seen a variety of shirts on an even greater variety of size bodies, I can testify to the fact that they do indeed come in 'fat bastard' size, right up to 'bloody hell, how does s/he see to pee' size. Regretfully though, no long sleeves.

I may have to buy a new one, as my other is rapidly becoming too large for me.....

Mudguard, if you bought an XXXL you could hoist it as a sail on your bike and if the wind is right you could sail to Whitby. Trouble is if the bugger is wrong you could end up back in Manchester

Yes Mudguard, I know but if I called you a tallboy, you'd be another name for a short wardrobe, which doesn't really do you justice.

Neither do you have a drawer in your bottom.

How would you know whether I have a drawer in my bottom?

And also: does "big boy" have any second meaning which I do not know about?

I also did not catch the meaning of "He's a tall lad fer 'is mam!"...

I hate not being a native English speaker...

Andy, I meant to reply to your questions earlier, but couldn't remember which thread to return to.

Q.1: Liz and Jude were, as is their wont, making ribald comments at the slightest provocation (I apologise, ladies, you need NO provocation!). I expect Jude was suggesting that Liz was commenting on how well-endowed you are.

Q.2: He's a big lad fer 'is mam (tr. he is a big lad for his mother) is a local (to me) affectionate comment made about a tall young man.

Sorry if we seemed to be having a joke at your expense, this wasn't the case. Your English is so good that maybe we like to test you once in a while... you certainly don't seem to miss much!

See you soon.

How dare you malign me in this way? I meant nothing other than he is a large gentleman, being a clear foot taller than myself, and proportionally built, rather than being tall and skinny or just plain fat.

Any other meaning is in the mind of the reader and I really think that before you suggest I'm being crude at my friend's expense, you should inspect the cleanliness of your own backside.

Mudguard ~ It is regretable that, in certain uncouth circles, I am given to understand that 'big boy' does have other connotations, concerning the size of some apendage. I apologise if I have unwittingly offended you or others, but as I stated above, a tall boy is a wardrobe (although they're ususally shorter than you are, and do indeed have a drawer in their bottoms), and I didn't think you'd like being a piece of furniture. I know not whether you have a drawer in your bottom, because, although some others have suggested otherwise, I have never seen you in a state of dishabile... I merely suppose that, since you have no special medical needs or require a special chair, that, like the rest of humanity, you have no drawer in your bottom.

Drawers ON your bottom would be a different matter - drawers being another work for knickers, long underwear or pants, but note, I didn't say that.

If anyone was making ribald comments at anyone's expense, it was JudeL at my expense and my solicitor will be contacting to her in due course.

Mudguard my dear, as Liz said, whether someone hears a crudity or a little gentle teasing on what attributes (such as height) are memorable to an individual does indeed depend on the mind of the reader.

I would imagine that most of us that have met you would have noticed that you are big (meaning tall) especially those of us like Liz & myself who are rather shorter than average, and (to use a phrase that I grew up with) you have "shoulders like tallboys" (yes I noticed too).

Yes I was indulging in a little gentle teasing of my friend Liz, in suggesting that she had been looking at/ noticing men other than Manitas (ie you). If someone else chooses to have a dirty mind and attribute other meanings to my post that is not something I can be responsible for.

Hi Liz the Squeek

You suggested that someone may not like being refered to as a piece of furniture but I knew someone who was perfeclly happy going through life as a Welsh Dresser.

Mind you he preferred to call himself a Rhondda Valet.

I do not really mind being the victim of jokes at my expense - as long as I do understand the joke myself...

And I should have added a ;-) or two to
>> How would you know whether I have a drawer in my bottom?

Obviously, I still have to learn lots of English (just learned two new words: ribald and well-endowed)...

Hello Mrs Duck. Sorry i'm late in replying but, and this may sound a stupid thing to ask, but how do i PM Bill? or am i already doing so by typing this?

If Bill can arrange for you to have an xtra large t-shirt at Saddleworth, i shall gladly purchase same. I'll be there Friday PM, booking in at the Civic about 1/2 two-ish. I'll also be in the Con club singarounds at some point ('specially the late night extra). Then there's the food/sing-a-round tent sessions (ooops hope Pied Piper's not reading this!)

Should be a good festival eh?

Vince, to use the PM system you have to join Mudcat and not sign in as a guest. No charge so you ought to do it - also gives you access to chatroom etc. which some of us wile away the wee small hours on occasionally! In the meantime will see you at Saddleworth - look out for the ducks!
