Subject: RE: BS: Favorite Band Names From: Arnie Date: 11 Sep 03 - 03:00 PM Seen at a folk club not a million miles from Windsor - The Understaines (not hard to guess where they came from!) |
Subject: RE: BS: Favorite Band Names From: Dano Date: 12 Sep 03 - 05:03 AM Nigel Mooney's Hip Operation from dublin; not only do they have an awful name, but they're pretty good too. What about the Funking Barstewards?? Roger Ruskin Spear & His Giant Orchestral Wardrobe (aka his giant kinetic wardrobe) is #1 IMHO. |
Subject: RE: BS: Favorite Band Names From: The Barden of England Date: 12 Sep 03 - 05:07 AM My friend and I were known as "Kiss the Tarmac" - reason - I'm John, he's Paul and there were 2 of us! |
Subject: RE: BS: Favorite Band Names From: GUEST,Elfcall Date: 12 Sep 03 - 08:31 AM Kevin Kipper's (ex?) band UB Quiet Elf |
Subject: RE: BS: Favorite Band Names From: Joybell Date: 12 Sep 03 - 06:04 PM We have "The Bluegrass Souls" here in Australia. Said very fast. My American true-love and I are sometimes: "Ida Clare and Jessoffel". Does a duo qualify as a band? |
Subject: RE: BS: Favorite Band Names From: GUEST,Julian Date: 13 Sep 03 - 05:57 AM I've always wanted to have a band named Rampant Apathy... |
Subject: RE: BS: Favorite Band Names From: Paul G. Date: 13 Sep 03 - 04:00 PM My first garage band was named after our keyboard player's mother because she allowed us to practice in her house -- then band was called "Mrs. Rizzo". My brother sat in on occassion with The Lemon Pipers. Then there were Atomic Roosters, Foghat...there's a Florida Folk band called "Sno Rogers" after a fictional baseball player...We're thinking of renaming our current band as "Grumpy Old Men". Maybe the Spaw and Cletus Roadside Review. |
Subject: RE: BS: Favorite Band Names From: Joybell Date: 13 Sep 03 - 05:58 PM My above entry should have read Ida Clare and Jess Orval. Sometimes we are Myrtle Green and Bracken Brown if we are in Scottish mode. Also in Australia in the 70s there was "The Black Velvet Band" Someone must have used "The Blue Velvet Band" surely. |
Subject: RE: BS: Favorite Band Names From: JonnyDyer Date: 14 Sep 03 - 04:10 AM Local band called Ember Sea ....... shortened from "The Ember Sea smokers". |
Subject: RE: BS: Favorite Band Names From: Bernard Date: 14 Sep 03 - 08:11 PM Them (Van Morrison's band in the mid 60s) Norfolk and Good (say it quickly!) Pickled Tink (dunno if there's such a band, but it sounds like there should be!!) |
Subject: RE: BS: Favorite Band Names From: GUEST Date: 15 Sep 03 - 12:51 PM I've been involved with: 50-cent Tour WheelWell (in case someone asked how we sounded, spoken like Elmer Fudd) and currently Toulouse Cruise (aka Two Loose Screws)... if someone is looking for a band name, I think that if you are towards an Irish/Celtic base, that "Dervish" could work, especially if high-energy is the norm... Brian. |
