Well, I tried to e-mail the personal message I got from Sian in Wales today and I found out that it's not legal to do that. Anyhow, here it is. I thought it was cool as hell that my bit of jokelore got back to Loch Ness !!! (SEE BELOW)

Just had to write to tell you that I was at a conference in Inverness last week and, on the Wedneday the lot of us was taken on the Ness Canal up to Loch Ness. Guess what? There's a lock on the canal. (Well, I don't suppose there'd be a point to the canal if there wasn't.) And I got to tell those around me about the Lock Moss Nesters! Neat, huh?

I was in the pub later the same night with others from the Conference and someone had already stolen the joke! I don't suppose that's a record, but damn close!

As I said in my reply to you, Art - the real wonder is that I a) remembered the joke and b) I remembered it when it was a propos! First time for everything, I guess!

(Come to think of it - do all 'Catters know the joke?)

Heard some good music too - as part of the Conference. There's a national programme for traditional music offered on a residential basis at one of the Highlands High Schools and they did a presentation on culture as a tool for community development. Hats off to the young people who played for us and were extremely clued in re: their commitment to Scottish music!
