Subject: Whitby Folk Week 16 - 22 Aug 2003
From: alanww

Whitby Folk Week was certainly very good last year. I am thinking of going - "that's a bit late to book accommodation" you might say - well yes it is!

Hence I would be interested to know who else is planning to go and whether anyone has any spare beds or floorspace in a house/flat in town which they would be willing to let out to myself and my girlfriend, Sandy? Well you never know ...

"Come fill up your glasses and let us be merry ...!"

PS I am just off to Latvia for a week to dance at the Baltica 2003 festival with the Chameleonic Morris Men but I will be very interested to see any responses when I return!

Linda and I hope to be around for some of the Whitby sessions this year. We've booked our caravan in one a site near Staithes, so we'll only be along the coast.

Well, yes I did get to play for Chameleonic Morris men, who danced for the President of Latvia and 5000+ others, and I was interviewed on Latvian TV ...
Anyway, I guess the lack of response while I was away either demonstrates that:-
1 everywhere is full up OR
2 nobody likes me ... *Boo hoo!*

If anyone in the bell-ringing fraternity is going to Whitby I would dearly love to grab the tower. PM me please. But sadly I will only be there on the Thursday & Friday - some of us have day jobs to help pay the fishmonger's bill(& Greedy cat!)

I missed Whitby last year but am going this. I gather last year they used a different campsite but are back at Stakesby School now. Anyone know whether they've finally replaced that dangerous contraption laughably described as a shower hut? The one with the water swilling around the electric pumps on the floor?

So if you see leaving me a maritime session or a singaround early, you'll know I'll be hotfooting it back to Saddleworth!! (Complete with hot water and towels of course!!)

See you all there,

Anyone brave enough to suggest to Malcolm that the Whitby programme (like the Sidmouth working programme)lists the artists at the end with the programme numbers of the events at which they'll be appearing? Or would that make the programme too expensive?

I'll be there too. Looking forward to the slow english sessions with George at The Middle Earth and the lunchtime soggy songs at the Endeavour.
Where is the best place to join in slower "not very Irish" sessions in the evenings? I've got nothing against the Irish (having just come back from some excellent craic over there) but their tunes have too many notes and they're too close together for me :-))

Sadly the caravan was not for sale, thus we are still reduced to staying in our existing caravan (though cheese and wine may be a knightly event) The canvas mansion will reappear at some stage later in the summer and is not for sale

Cheese and wine will happen at the castle annexe (otherwise known as our caravan) on at least one, if not more occassions during the week. Of course you may attend Lady Rabbit, provided there's none of that hand holding lark with my lord raggy again!!!!! Further details will bew published when the good knight and I communicate later today.

My Dear Lords & Ladies, Lord and Lady Bulstrode de Wraggetache of Kirklees would like to entend an invitation to the very select few to attend a Pig Roast Supper (BBQ) at our domicile in the fair sea port of Whitby on Monday the 18th in the month of August in the year of our Lord MMIII. (Weather permitting)

Other than that we could all hike off down to the beach one evening, armed with throw away barbie, bottles and bottles of beer wine and spitrits and light a big fire and all dance round naked in a drunken stupor ...........................Ooops there I go again.

I bet I know which one the Rabbit goes for !

the trouble with the beach is sand gets every where!!

Perhaps My lord Raggy you and your good Lady could act as witness to MCFAT and I as we renew our vows - neither of remember saying any at Beverley - neither did we have Stag/hen do or reception or wedding pressies so we thought since we are supposed to be married we had better try to sort some time out and get on with it and then we can get on with the not speaking to each other bit!

Lord Raggy hast thou been defeated I notice the dropping from your Title of West Yorkshire and the North of England - is there another pretender to the throne?
