Sold, Flaj to finance new concertina. As to which Garside I don't have a programme so was probably remembering wrong name.

Mrs Duck,

Am intrigued by several references to your melodeon recently on mudcat. Have you lost it, had it stolen, sold it or what?

On the subject of gentle melodeons on Saturday and Sunday, are you sure it's Robin Garside who's running them at Middle Earth, as it's usually George Garside who does them.

Whoever it is, look out for me there as I enjoy that sort of thing as you probably know.

Perhaps you can update me on your melodeon saga there?

Flaj.

Getting really excited now only two days to go and although my melodeon went to Sidmouth without me and never came home I may well be taking a slightly more shapely squeezy home from Whitby (fingers crossed!)All this excitement and the prospect of men in shining T shirts doing battle for the hands of unfair maidens (?)is all a little too much for me I think I'll go and have a lie down - may be the most sleep I'll get for the next week (hopefully)

Well thanks osson and john from but Sunday suits us well. We can't get in the accomodation on Friday and EYMS do a lovely Sunday direct bus in the morning. Only seven quid return. And we're not even coming back! We're looking forward to meeting up with all our mates during the week.

We'll be a vital(ish) part of L'Orchestra Super Scratch on Monday Wednesday and Friday. Please come and throw money!

Les and Mags

Brid Widder, Stoupes Cross is not a bad site, although it can get noisy at night, but it is the nearest to town. You will have to get there early on Friday as it will be full by tea time. Up Green Lane towards the abbey, at the top turn right awat from the abbey, Stoupes Cross is on the left hand side

Alan - Mouldy tells me that there are sessions described in the programme as 'gentle sessions' on Saturday and Sunday early afternoon run by Robin Garside and an other I think at the Middle Earth. Some of the tunes will certainly be those we looked at in Chorley from the folk works music. Sure thay do decent cider too!

No checklist just me and my watercolours for when I get overcome by the smoke in the Tap & Spile. Mudguard will probably have biker's bottom by then so I will remember the bathsalts!

Good idea, Bill. I was asked twice in Sidmouth about Mudcat T shirts and I gave them your name, suggesting they send you a PM (I didn't log their names). Let's hope they are both going to Whitby and that you have good sales ...

Tap and Spile usually has some sort of Scrumpy on and we could always start a session in the main bar! I will bring my borrowed concertina and see if I can throw the odd note in - maybe even some correct ones. Lunchtime around 1pm is often a good time for that sort of session before the big crowds gather.

Have just managed to book somewhere to put my campervan! Thanks for the tip, Vectis!

Getting excited now. Let me see: concertina, cider tokens, songbook, hip flask, Tallimore Dew, Mudcat Tshirt, Fisherman's Friends, more cider tokens, Captain Morgan's spiced Rum, bell pads, hankies, sun hat (but I hope it won't be as hot as Sidmouth!) and perhaps some extra cider tokens. Oh and not forgetting Sandy and her mandolin ...

BTW What are the decent pubs for cider, preferably where there is an easy-peasy English tunes session going on at the time?

"Come fill up your glasses and let us be merry ...!"

Ossenflags, I was in the very establishment last night talking to the Landlady about our visitation on Sunday of Folk Week, the pub has altered a little and is not as big as it was, so we will enjoy cosier setting than we did, but the welcome will be there and with good company provided by ourselves, it once again should be a rollicking afternoon. Train about 12.30 from Whitby arrives just after 1.00 in Glaisdale, train home just after 4. I will check the exact times beforehand, the office was closed on both Friday and Saturday when I went this weekend
