Subject: BO DIDDLEY LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE & STORE From: GUEST,David Blakey Date: 07 Jul 03 - 10:56 AM Bo Diddley, one of the founding fathers of rock & roll and the popularizer of the world-famous "Bo Diddley beat", has just launched his new website and online store. The site, which with typical idiosyncrasy he has named "Bo Bo Diddley's Turnup Root", is located at http://www.turnup-root.com/ In conjunction with his new website, Bo Diddley is currently also shaping up to release CDs of both brand new recordings as well as a series of exciting limited edition collectors' CDs of previously unreleased archive material recorded in his various home studios during the past 40 years. Right now, visitors to his website can shop online at Bo Diddley's Online Store powered by CafePress.com and purchase a range of cool-looking and exclusive limited edition items including T-shirts, sweatshirts, BBQ aprons and "Road Runner" vehicle license plate frames. For further information, please visit: "Bo Bo Diddley's Turnup Root" at http://www.turnup-root.com/ |
Subject: RE: BO DIDDLEY LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE & STORE From: Bill D Date: 07 Jul 03 - 12:34 PM Bo, and commercial messages about him, is now a good topic for a folk music site? Pardon this old curmudgeon for saying "I don't think so". |
Subject: RE: BO DIDDLEY LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE & STORE From: GUEST Date: 07 Jul 03 - 12:52 PM Well Bill D, I think you are right. However, I'm a big fan of Bo Diddley and I'm glad to have picked up on this info on his website. But you do raise a point: why are so many threads concerned with non Folk/Blues/Trad? Is it because people are scared of being accused of being narrow-minded or is it because, on the evidence of their postings, most of them know sod-all about folk/blues/trad and what these things are and what they are not? |
Subject: RE: Bo Diddley Launches New Website and Store From: Joe Offer Date: 07 Jul 03 - 01:15 PM Well, I dunno, I think it's helpful to know if Bo Diddley has a site - I think that's information that could be of some use to folk musicians. I did think the tone of the announcement was a bit heavily commercial. I thought the least I could do is tone down the thread title by changing it from ALL CAPS. -Joe Offer- |
