Subject: E. Ontario: Come to Willie-O's Session From: Willie-O Date: 09 Jul 03 - 09:24 AM Hey folks, I'm hosting a Celtic session outdoors at the Stewart Park Festival in beautiful downtown Perth Ontario, later this same month. Date: Sunday, July 27, 1 p.m. at the Festival Acoustic Stage. Anyone who can make it to Perth (1 hr west of Ottawa, 3.5 hr east of Toronto) that weekend with an instrument is invited. Here's the festival website: www.stewartparkfestival.ca There are three great things about this festival:

Subject: RE: E. Ontario: Come to Willie-O's Session From: Marion Date: 09 Jul 03 - 01:11 PM Hi Bill. I'd like to come. The only thing is that I will probably have a guest that weekend, and I might have to take her to the bus station that afternoon. We shall see. I'm especially looking forward to hearing David Francey. PS I looked at the festival website, and it said that the Celtic jam is Saturday, not Sunday. Marion |
Subject: RE: E. Ontario: Come to Willie-O's Session From: Willie-O Date: 10 Jul 03 - 01:20 PM Marion, sure hope you can make it. I figured you'd be somewhere far away...? Maybe you see something that I don't see on the website...or they've fixed it. The schedule on the Stewart Park website indicates correctly that I am playing the beer patio on Saturday and that the Celtic Jam is on Sunday. But it appears the session time has been moved up to noon on Sunday, rather than 1. Ack! Anyway, it's happening. On Sunday. For sure. Be there. Early. I will. Bill. |

Subject: RE: E. Ontario: Come to Willie-O's Session From: Marion Date: 13 Jul 03 - 11:01 PM Hi Bill. Since it's at noon, I expect that I'll be able to make it. You're right, either they've since updated the schedule, or I was hallucinating the whole thing. I'm in Perth for a bit to attend a wedding and to raise money/get organized for my trip. I actually have a little gig in Macdonald's Corners this Friday at suppertime. If you're home that day, maybe I could drop by before the gig (or after, but only if it's raining). Cheers, Marion |
Subject: RE: E. Ontario: Come to Willie-O's Session From: Willie-O Date: 14 Jul 03 - 12:19 PM There's a session in Almonte I was thinking of going to this Friday.(regardless of rain). Where are you playing, what time are you finishing? And what does rain have to do with it? Bill A slightly transparent refresh. |
Subject: RE: E. Ontario: Come to Willie-O's Session From: CET Date: 14 Jul 03 - 02:08 PM Good luck with the session, Bill. We can't make it, unfortunately, since we will be somewhere on the 401 coming back from Toronto. Edmund |
Subject: RE: E. Ontario: Come to Willie-O's Session From: Marion Date: 17 Jul 03 - 01:51 AM Might as well keep gossiping in public to keep this thread up... Friday I'm playing a "Christmas in July" party for a church group. I have to be there at 5, probably leave by 6:45. But if the weather's good I'm camping in Almonte that night, so I'd want to go get set up before dark. Are you at home before 5? I saw your neighbour a couple of days ago. She mentioned the prospect of getting a vanful of people together to go up to the Celtic Colours festival this fall. Are you in on that? Marion PS Hi Edmund. |
Subject: RE: E. Ontario: Come to Willie-O's Session From: Willie-O Date: 19 Jul 03 - 10:30 AM The latest, genuine, true factsThe session at Stewart Park is at 1 p.m. on Sunday. The posted schedule was wrong, and has now been corrected Edmund and Charmion, hi. If you're coming back from Toronto, it's only three hours or so to Perth, whyn't you deak up Hwy 7 and catch the last couple of shows? (See link above). FREE, in the park, and Scarlett Washington and Whiteley are the last main stage act, at 4:30. See those guys while you can is my advice, Jackie Washington is 84 and still getting wheeled around to do shows... I would call that worth an hour stopover on the rather mundane Toronto-Ottawa commute... best W-O Marion, I hadn't heard about specific plans to go to Celtic Colours, but since I already went to CB this year and all my family got were these lousy t-shirts, you do the math...rats. |
Subject: RE: E. Ontario: Come to Willie-O's Session From: delphinium Date: 20 Jul 03 - 07:51 AM Hi Bill, hope to catch your session on Sunday. The word is out that this is a great little festival in a neat place! (so sez my friend who went last year) If we make it I'll say hello. sharon (I'm away til next weekend so won't be posting again for a bit.) |
Subject: RE: E. Ontario: Come to Willie-O's Session From: Willie-O Date: 20 Jul 03 - 01:34 PM Thw word is true. Come on along. |
Subject: RE: E. Ontario: Come to Willie-O's Session From: Marion Date: 22 Jul 03 - 11:56 AM Sounds like a plan, CET. Sorry I missed you, Bill. I called after my party and no one was home. See you Sunday. Marion |
Subject: RE: E. Ontario: Come to Willie-O's Session From: Marion Date: 26 Jul 03 - 01:33 AM Bill, is there another catapult contest this year? That was fun to watch. Marion |
Subject: RE: E. Ontario: Come to Willie-O's Session From: Willie-O Date: 26 Jul 03 - 08:12 AM Regrettably...I believe the official technical term for holding a public contest to encourage amateur engineers to build full-size catapults and demonstrate their hurling capacities before a large crowd is "insurance nightmare". However the Celtic Session is still on at Stewart Park, at 1 p.m. tomorrow! So press on regardless. Bill |
Subject: RE: E. Ontario: Come to Willie-O's Session From: Marion Date: 26 Jul 03 - 10:40 PM I see. Well then, when's the next Willie-O's Birthday party? That was fun too, and seemed pretty safe, other than the bear attacks. Marion |
Subject: RE: E. Ontario: Come to Willie-O's Session From: Willie-O Date: 27 Jul 03 - 08:34 PM My birthday party will be on or about my birthday...which is August 22. I might have the party on the 23rd which is Saturday. Haven't quite decided. The session went great. Marion completed the Mudcat complement, some folks from an Irish session in Ottawa that I go to sometimes, were there, and some fine local folks. Including a guy I'd never met nor heard of who lives right in town and turned out to be able to play all the tunes on guitar...I thought I knew everyone in Perth that could do that! And we held off the rain and had a great audience. What more could you want? Bill |
