Subject: Sidmouth Festival From: GUEST Date: 09 Jul 03 - 10:28 AM I'm going to Sidmouth for a few days. Can anyone tell me of a good/cheap camp site nearby where I can pitch a tent and pay by the day? |
Subject: RE: Sidmouth Festival From: treewind Date: 09 Jul 03 - 10:58 AM I believe there's a good commercial campsite at Salcombe Regis. Designed for caravans, but that type of site is usually very nice for pitching tents, with flat ground and services that work. Recommended (if I've got the location right) by a friend who takes his family and doesn't want to rough it in the crowded festival site. Sorry can't remember the name. I'm sure Google will help. Subject: RE: Sidmouth Festival From: The Barden of England Date: 09 Jul 03 - 11:06 AM Two places come to mind, and what's more they run a bus that visits both camp sites, and they run late, so no need to take a car into Sidmouth. Try:- Salcombe Regis Camping & Caravan Park Salcombe Regis, Sidmouth EX10 0JH 01395 515303 or: Kings Down Tail Caravan & Camping Park Salcombe Regis, Sidmouth EX10 0PD 01297 680313 I have stayed at Kings Down Tail, and it has excellent showers etc. plus as I've already said the minibus service which is not at all expensive. Hope I have been of help |
Subject: RE: Sidmouth Festival From: GUEST,Rich A Date: 09 Jul 03 - 11:06 AM There's also 'Kingsdown Tail' near Salcombe on the main Seaton Road. It becomes an unofficial festival site that week. http://albionroamer.co.uk/ex100pdkt.htm |

Subject: RE: Sidmouth Festival From: Zany Mouse Date: 09 Jul 03 - 11:52 AM I can really recommend the Salcombe Regis site. Used to stay there every year. It is next door to the donkey sanctuary which is well worth the visit if you are interested. You need to book as it gets very busy in festival week. A clean, well run site. If I ever went to Sidmouth again (unlikely) then I would certainly stay there. ZM |
