Subject: White Oak Folk Festival - this Saturday! From: Jeremiah McCaw Date: 10 Jul 03 - 01:13 PM Oakville, Ontario, Canada. It occurs to me I should toss up some information about this shindig, especially since I'm somewhat involved. There's an excellent lineup, it's at an excellent indoor (and air-conditioned)venue and the quality of the mainstage sound is nothing less than joyous. Nominal cost ($15 + service charge). Opening ceremony at 11:30, and I get to start off the first workshop at noon. Among others on the stage with me for the bass workshop will be Sandy Horne (of James Gordon and . . .) and Al Parrish of Tanglefoot. My own wee group, an old time/roots trio we've named "Ezeduzit" has a little 'spotlight' concert in the afternoon. Now if any 'catters should attend, pretty please make yourselves known to me. If anyone can't point me out by nams, just look for the little round guy with the red, heart-shaped bass (really). Here's the official blurb; hope it formats okay: The Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts and The White Oak Folk Club in conjunction with The Canadian Heritage Ministry present the White Oak Folk Festival Featuring: David Bradstreet Don Bray Ezeduzit Fireweed James Gordon Haines & Leighton Terry McBain & Steve Fuller Glen Reid & The Heritage River Rats Alfie Smith Keith Thompson Tanglefoot Ed Vandendool Caroline Wiles Saturday July 12, 2003 at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts 150 Navy Street, Oakville, Ontario Opening Ceremonies @ 11:30 workshops: noon to 5:00 pm concerts and performer spotlights: 3:00pm to 5:00pm Mainstage Concerts: 6:00pm to 11:00 pm food, raffles, door prizes, food & craft vendors, plus a day of superb music Tickets: $15.00 (plus taxes and service charges) Tickets available at the Oakville Centre Box Office: (905) 815-2021 For Information: Phone: (905) 842-7960 Toll Free: 1-877-263-WOFC (9632) Fax: (905) 842-4883 or toll free 1-800-430-0729 email: pcyoung@attcanada.ca Well, it didn't format in spiffy poster form, but all the info's there. Take care . . . Jeremiah |

Subject: RE: White Oak Folk Festival - this Saturday! From: Fortunato Date: 10 Jul 03 - 03:21 PM Please post picture of bass. Since I'm way down in Maryland I can't make your festival, but I sure would like to see a red, heart-shaped bass. |

Subject: RE: White Oak Folk Festival - this Saturday! From: Jeremiah McCaw Date: 11 Jul 03 - 09:22 PM Always first in my heart, Glen, but lately I have been playing the electric mostly, and it is heart-shaped. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow; should be a fine day. Fortunato, fear not. I'm assembling a personal page for my website, and will have photos of my instruments. A friend of mine installed her white stetson on my head and took a shot of me and the Heartbreaker. I've also got a fair shot of me wearing a celtic vest with my Reid in hand. The caption'll read "From Celtic to Cowboy, with many a detour in between." Should be soon (soon as I bestir myself off my Royal Canadian and finish it!) Be well . . . Jeremiah www.jeremiah.ca |
