Subject: Remembering Clarence From: Steve-o Date: 15 Jul 03 - 02:35 PM It is thirty years today since Clarence White was killed by a drunk driver. On that day we lost the most creative and skilled flatpick guitarist of all time, and to all accounts a wonderful human being. To this day, no guitarist has approached his inventiveness and finesse. Although I did not know him personally he had a great effect on my approach to music and the guitar, and he is strongly in my thoughts right now. Light shone through his fingers. |

Subject: RE: Remembering Clarence From: michaelr Date: 15 Jul 03 - 08:25 PM Right you are, Steve. Clarence was the greatest, on acoustic and electric guitar, and I miss him. Few who came after could touch him, with the possible exception of Tony Rice, who, I believe, owns Clarence's old Martin with the enlarged soundhole. Cheers, Michael |

What a great flame, snuffed out so early. It's a cliche, but to think what might have been................ |
