Does this help?
The Wee Toon Tellers

Over the past fifteen years or so, the Wee Toon Tellers have become a Campbeltown institution. Their music is a mixture of well-known Scottish and Irish tunes, some old whaling songs, gentle instrumentals and some excellent original material. The virtuoso playing of the McAllister brothers, Archie on fiddle and Alex on accordion/keyboards, is well complimented by Dave Bisset's inspired banjo and mandolin playing, all powered along in the engine room by Callum Brodie (bodhran) and Davie Robertson (guitar/vocals). The band have recorded two albums: 'Jarred and Feathered' and '10 Years Matured' (from which the two pieces featured on this album originate). If you'd like to purchase the Tellers last CD, "10 Years Matured", please send an email to enquiries@saddellabbeytrust.org.

Doesn't help at all Sorcha, totally different Davie Robertson.

Davie is an ex headmaster of Tranent primary school, is a regular at Haddington Folk Club, is a fine exponent of the small pipes, and has indeed written a number of fine songs in addition to "Star of the Bar". He has a fine baritone voice and has recorded "Star of the Bar" on his solo tape (don't think he ever made it into a CD)

The titles of his other songs escape me at the moment, but I no longer have the tape.

If you want a copy of his tape, PM me and I will organise it for you.

Murray

Thanks for the help Murray Ill be in touch about the tape when I get my head round all this new technology Its hard for an old Folkie.
Anyway its good to get some info on Mr Robertson,I think "Star" says it all about real relationships, far removed fromthe Politically correct loooove stories our young people are being fed.
Also thanks to Sorcha....You didnt sort me but better luckj next time
   Keep safe Alex..

Murray... I forgot to mention, I heard a version of Star on Archie Fishers radio show about eight years ago.It was a live version done in what sounded like a pub. When the singer had finished he said to the punters "Thats Star o the bar".I presume this was Davie Robertson himself..Ill be in touch ,thanks again

It may indeed have been Davie himself you heard, Alex, but as I am sure you are well aware, "Star O' The Bar" is a staple item in the repertoire of every Scottish folk singer and his dog.

Anyway send me a PM and I will put you in touch with him.

Murray
