Well in and amongst all the confusion I already recorded the concert when it was on BBC 4 and thought it was brilliant. My daughter Maddie (9) is a big fan too and I can only imagine the faces of the teachers when she was asked last year what she got for her birthday and replied 'Angels and Cigarettes'! So keep on with the "old guff" ;¬) we enjoy it!

    Is it still you? I never have played with Andy. I danced for him once, years ago, with Nancy...but he doesn't play the hurdy-gurdy as far as I know either...

Jon, in answer to PAL/NTSC, no, when you record the DVD you should have the option in the software to record in either format but I think most TV's will play both systems these days, I have some region 1 dvd's and they play on my telly ok.
In the meantime I've encountered a problem with Nerovision express which is supposed to record onto DVD, but it hangs after half an hour of transcoding, so it looks like the above offer is a bit academic at the mo'

Sorry for the drift but reading this thread has brought up a curiosity question. Is DVD independant of PAL/NTSC or is it like video where you have to have the right format?

As for the concert, I won tickets for that one - I couldn't go, tried to offer them for free here on Mudcat and got no takers! (It was very short notice).

I take it the horrible buzzing sound was the hurdy gurdy? Surprised it took him so long to get rid of it, just kill the h-g's channel!

I heard a similar story concerning a Celtic band being mixed by a rock sound tech. The band's guitar player approached the guy halfway through the show and said, "sounds pretty good, but I can't hear the drones, you know, the low persistent notes on the bagpipes." Rocker responded "that's what that is? I've been trying to lose it for the last half an hour!"

Eliza, you've got class. And y'know, it is a grand offer Okthen, but can you afford the potential response? Ms Carthy's CD's are available in North America, y'know. (Thanks though)

The last thing I want to do is contravene copyright, or annoy the artist concerned, so I shall wait a bit before I send any.I hadn't intended charging anything for them (it's the old hippie in me) but the response (in half an hour) is a little daunting.
I am not withdrawing the offer totally, but shall review the situation in 10-15 days, unless I am told it's O.K. or not.

I managed to record the recent Eliza Carthy concert at the Union Chapel, and am able to put it on DVD, SVCD, or VCD if anyone would like a copy? I don't want to do 100's and am thinking more of the American mudcatters who get less chance to see the bonnie lass than we Brits.
