Anyone get to the Stainsby Festival this year?

Great weather all weekend and some great new (to me) acts.

Jiggerypipery, Serious Kitchen and Boo Hewerdine all made a particularly strong impression on me.

Yes agree with the above especially Boo Hewerdine. Boden and Spiers were probably the most impressive for me while Dick Gaughan and Eric Bogle were up to their usual high standard. Certainly one of the best Stainsbys for a while

The nearest I got was seeing it on Saturday evening from the M1, on my way back home from East Midlands airport to Yorks. Haven't been for 17 years, when we used to live not far away. It looked to be well attended.

I spent the best 9 and a half hours at Stainsby I ever have had. Concerts were great Spiers and Boden were mega, Gaughan was awesome watch out for a McDonald version of No Gods. I was a little bit rail lagged but I enjoyed it

Re: sight of festival from motorway

I've wondered what people make of the scene on Saturday night when they look up into a field to see hundreds of people standing in a circle while a whicker something or other (this year it was a dragon) is set on fire.

Bet it doesn't do the Chesterfield tourist industry any good!!

Yes,another brilliant Stainsby.
There are precious few heroes but there are Gods and Dick Gaughan is one.Jiggerypipery were new to us and Mary danced her feet off and Boden and Spiers are ace.

Does it have a website? Sounds brilliant. I'd like to find out more...

Sure does. Stainsby Festival. A holding page will appear soon with pics of this year's event, and an archive of this year's site. As soon as we can get our collective brains back on the planet after this year's bash, an entirely new improved website will be up for next year's festival.

Ok, so we didn't make the new website for this year (we're still working on it). Maybe next! But the festival's all up and ready to roll.

We used to go to Stainsby some years ago. Unfortunately it clashes with Festival at the Edge and Saddleworth - it's just not fair having to choose between three great festivals on one weekend!

Ya'll just really freaked me out then, I thought the start of this thread was current, and I'd managed to miss it this year...

Luckily not, the Witches will be there, and the Demons too, so should be a good laugh.

see ya there xx

Great Jim. See you Saturday.

Fay - sorry to freak you out. Really must learn how to start a new thread. (But I was picking up on the new website - or lack of it).

there's also going to be Jon Strong and Mundy-Turner, who weren't on any of the ads
