The Old Trout Band will be there - as usual we're first on (3pm Friday 8th and last off (late night silly session with Mick Scott on Friday 15th) Look out for our banner somewhere near the bee hives.
Looking forward to seeing old friends again.

We'll be wearing last years Tee Shirts again as we are to poor to afford new ones- anyway we think FW is now the best week long festival in the country - and that includes Sidmouth and Whitby to which we have been recently.
Pete & Maggie

I'll probably try it for a day as it's not too far, but like Richard Bridge I wonder why everything seems to stop at 3pm. Where are the all day sessions?

According to my programme, there is something on almost all day.
Pub gigs that finish at 14:00hrs are overlapped by others that end at 16:30. And then there is Avrils folk-bash upstairs at Bradstow Mill till 18:30, then the pubs start agin. (not more beer!)
There is also stuff going on at the school in the afternoons, too.
So there!!!

P.S. If you wanna start yer own *all day session* I'll come and heckle a bit for yer, John.

Can't do the school as I've not got a ticket, but I'll try and see you down there. What day? I suppose Mark Lawson and the rest of the Shanty boys are there too?

As far as all-day sessions go, the sea-front is free, and I'm sure if a bunch of us started something then it'd keep going quite successfully.

Having said that, there's a whole load of workshops I want to go to, so I think I'm going to be busy throughout the day regardless!

Graham.

Mick and I are thinking about going BUT we are trying to find somewhere to put the campervan in easy walking distance for an aged cripple (me, not Mick). Anyone know of anything? We have own shower, loo etc in the van so a spot in a car park would do.

Kay is bringing several pairs of them thar shoes, as she is doing an Asian-Apple workshop.
AND she is doing a Cajun Dance workshop.
AND she is dancing with Gundulfs Morris.
AND she is playing box for Dead Horse Morris.
AND she is dancing at all the Cajun band gigs.

I might do the odd song if I stay sober long enough!

Zany Mouse, I think the car parks might not be such a good idea we tried that one and there are no long stay/overnight parks. However you can always find a space to park in one of the local back streets it worked for us.

Linda and I will be in Budapest until mid-week, then we'll be taking the caravan up to the NE for Whitby amongst other things - so we won't be getting there.

Also looking for a session that occupies the afternoon, ideally where musicians join in with songs rather than just listen to them- no offence, Avril- it could happen before the Bradstow Mill begins perhaps. We've got song & we've got tunes but not,as far as I can see songs with tunes...or will this not be permitted this year? Perhaps we could join & busk on the seafront for the collection? Hoping to be there all week, so CUABW--BobK

Been over the prog (downloaded) at some length (well,it is) still seems light on participative song plus accompaniment sessions. It's an hour (plus, that's if the road is VERY clear) drive for me and I can't leave the dogs overnight so I need to be confident.

Someone give me an ubiased review of the "Travelling Folk" sessions...they are not billed as participative in the sense of other people being able to lead anything, unless I mis-read.

I have been to the travelling folk sessions several times at Broadstairs, and they have always been friendly and encouraging to people who wish to sing or play.

I'm off to Broadstairs just now actually. Anyone going who's into poetry, the sessions at Daisy's cafe 10.00am are recommended. which I shall be hosting.

I shall be ging to the Singaround on Thursday, but a more interesting fact than that is that a catter is the main guest there on that day namely English Jon (Jon Loomes), of Mudcat CD fame. See you there perhaps.

We're going for some of the week. Look out for Monday's lunchtime ceilidh with our "other" band, English Rebellion, almost certainly the only ceilidh band in existence that includes both a cello and a French horn...

Have a beverage for me won't you!
