Eliza Carthy has once again been nominated for the Mercury awards, by
rights she should win hands down, I wonder if the establishment will recognise this great musician and singer.

I saw her for the first time on Sunday at Saddleworth Festival with Waterson Carthy, although a sceptic beforehand she was brilliant

The Telegraph today described Anglicana as the closest thing to a token classical album on the shortlist. Uphill struggle!

At Saddleworth I had the great privlege with others of both listening to music by Waterson Carthy and talking folk music, Eliza impressed me both as a muscian and a person. I hope she win's the prize as I believe she would be a fine ambassador for our music, but nomination raises the profile as well.
