I had a great evening at The Cricketers in Greenwich on Tuesday!
Anybody who hasn't been to this session yet is missing what is probably the best acoustic English folk music session in the world!

I'm not joking see Greentrad for details.

Some nights I have witnessed 15 fiddlers, 5 Melodeons, 3 concerinas, various guitars, mandolins, wind instruments etc playing wonderful old melodies through an evening of fine ales and free food provided by a great landlord.

Have to agree that it is probably the best English folk session in the world ( or at least in this area ). If anyone is ever in Greenwich on a Tuesday you should visit the Cricketers.

It'll be interesting to see if Greenwich Council will insist upon further modifications/restrictions to grant an entertainment licence when the pub has to renew it's existing one. All they should have to do is put a tick in the box. The current "two evenings a week" restriction should be unenforceable anyway because the sessions should come within the "Small Events" clause.

Whats the betting that the council tries to "move the goalposts" ?

It's a great session anyway - although I think that the English Music Session at the "The Lord Clyde" SE1, on the first Sunday (Lunchtime) of the month, is probably the best in London.
