At this year's Tenterden Festival Roy Clinging sang the best 'Barbara Allen' I've ever heard.

John Clinging   Stumbled on Roy`s name by accident. I think we are related, maybe even cousins--my father was William Clinging from Londonderry. Roy can you confirm or deny this

Roy puts on a great show and is an exceptionally fine singer of especially Cheshire songs. Wish we were closer! Haven't seen him and Mary since last September when he was in our neck of the woods.

(And I owe them a long chatty missive, she says guiltily.)

Linn

Roy Clinging will be at Redditch Folk Club on the 2nd August, you can mail bryn@hollowhills.fsnet.co.uk for details.

Roy hails from Cheshire and much of his material is derived from that area.

We've got Trefor and Vicki Williams on the 30th of August. A lovely duo from Wales, who do sing in Welsh now and then.

Rather than just posting this as a shameless plug, I was wondering about the degree to which people feel drawn to the music either of the place they were born in, or live in. I know I have a longstanding fascination with things Gloucestershire, what about anyone else?

How regional is your folk?
