I got to hear the first half hour and thoroughly enjoyed it, especially BW. But what must I do to join that secret society thing?

It was fun talking on the radio knowing that some mudcatters were out there listening! Thanks for calling in, Amos and Bob and Rick and Amos again and ....somebody else whose name I didn't catch (did I miss anyone?). Unfortunately, something technical had changed in the studio during the week, and Heather couldn't get the phone calls on the air last night. Glad you enjoyed the chat and the music!

Tell us a deep dark secret, Mark.

Yup, good show. Debbie was a fine guest and the hour just shot by. It's a good CD even if you're not a kid's music afficianado.

Thanks Amos for "doyenne", for a moment I thought "Doyen" might be the masculine, but just for a moment!!

Cheers

Rick

Nah, "doyen" is a Midwestern US participle used in constructions such as "Pat, wot the fockya doyen?!!!"

I listened. Can't call in unless I hang up the computer and I call the show almost every third week anyway!. Not a big fan of kids' music, but that doesn't mean I can't recognize quality. Excellent recording!

'Czar' woulda been easier.

Thanks so much. It's been a big challenge and lot of fun. There's quite a bit of good kids' music out there these days, and I should have mentioned on the show that a great place to experience it is at folk festivals. This summer I'll be going to the Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival (as a member of the audience), where Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer will be performing both on the adult and children's stages. They are wonderful with audiences of all ages. Kirk and Magoo have entertained our family for years. And there are other good children's performers out there as well.

What I do is a bit unique in that I teach babies and toddlers - and the CD is aimed at children birth to 5 years of age. Get them while they're young, I say. But we wanted grownups to like listening to the CD as well, and that's the feedback I've been getting. I mean, how many children's CD's do you know that have this much slide guitar??!

Debbie, thanks for letting me know by E-mail that you were going to be on Rick's show. I called the show in part to let you know that I was indeed listening and was thoroughly enjoying it.

I had forgotten until you reminded me that it was as a result of my being on Rick's show several years ago that you landed at the Woods Music and Dance Camp. You soon became an important addition to that wonderful bunch of folkies(including Rick Fielding)in our community.

I had no idea until you mentioned on the radio that the 25 people that you were expecting at the library you and I checked out turned out to be 125 or more. Wow!!! You must have had to take a really deep breath before doing that gig.

I have really enjoyed listening to your CD, and it was interesting that the songs you played on Rick's show were for the most part my favourites too. I sure recommend it to everyone reading this who spends time around young children.

Bob

Hi, Bob! I think you were on the show with Sue, Grit and Eve? It must have been about 9 1/2 years ago. I didn't have faces to go with the names back then, but I think that's who it was. I've gone to The Woods every summer since that show! It's been a huge part of my learning more instruments and songs, not to mention the dear friends I've gotten terribly attached to. Thank you to Rick for helping to get the word out there about the camp, and festivals, and folk clubs, and CDs - so much folk stuff gets its advertising done just this way.
