Subject: Lawson: Do You Think That I Do Not Know From: Desert Dancer Date: 01 Aug 03 - 01:24 PM Henry Lawson's "Do You Think That I Do Not Know" is in the DT here, and refers to the tune by Slim Dusty (as recorded by Martin Wyndham-Read, also by Priscilla Herdman). I can't get the midi to work, though. This site has the tune by Chris Kempster. ~ Becky in Tucson just back from a week with Danny Spooner... |

Subject: RE: Lawson: Do You Think That I Do Not Know From: Joe Offer Date: 01 Aug 03 - 05:03 PM Yeah, the Digital Tradition MIDIs aren't working, and Max and Jeff are working on a solution. In the meantime, you can find the tune at Yet Another Digital Tradition (or you can Download Your Own Copy of the Digital Tradition). I'm glad you brought this up, Becky. I haven't heard this song for a while, and I forgot how powerful it was. -Joe Offer- |
Subject: RE: Lawson: Do You Think That I Do Not Know From: Desert Dancer Date: 01 Aug 03 - 07:03 PM Just cogitating on Australian songs and love's travails, and responding to a request in the Outside Track thread. Thanks for the alternate links. In looking for that one, I was intrigued to see that some of the melodies that Priscilla Herdman used for Lawson "songs" on The Water Lily were her own (confessions of an LP taper, y'know). I've got to get me a copy of that on cd -- with notes. You can also add me to the list of folks who wish there were more copies of Chris Kempster's book of Lawson settings (his own and others'). ~ Becky in Tucson |
