Thanks for the link, Watson.

That is a seriously good line-up, and a good clear website too.

Shellbacks are doing the folktrain to Bewdley on the Saturday night (will there be room for anyone else on the train?!) and the Hymn/gospel session Sunday lunchtime, amongst other things.

Can't wait!

I'll be there!

Last year I remember drinking tea while sitting on some garden chairs outside the West Indian food stall between 12.30 and 2.30 am - at first discussing The Blackbird with Dave Webber and Anni Fentiman and shortly afterwards enjoying talking about shanties with Jim Mageean, while drinking copious amounts of spiced rum (or was it Irish whiskey?). Magic! Lets hope that there will be just as many good memories this year ...

If you're going on the Saturday night train to Kidderminster and prefer quiter sounds to the Shelbacks try the coach with Serious Kitchen & Cloudstreet. Met John & Nicole from Cloudstreet in the Tap & Spile at Whitby. Great voices and harmonies singing interesting songs.

OK - pur plans for Bridgnorth are now a little better fixed:
Lunchtime session at the Holly Head Inn on Saturday, with Flos Headford and friends, so that'll be a English tunes session mostly, with maybe a few very silly songs...

The rest of Saturday - what's up, what's worth seeing, who's going to be where? We'll be there until late Sunday afternoon.

Any suggestions about pub(s) where singers gather gratefully received.

Looking at the programme on the website - it would look as if there are gigs on in most of the pubs - leaving little room for all forms of informal music making to take place. Is this a correct impression?

Filling time @ Bewdley Beer festival waiting for Bridgnorth to start tonight...feeling quite mellow & ready for a little nap! I'm a Brignorth virgin so have no idea where to go for a singaround but so far everything looks wonderful.... admittedly through beer coloured glasses! Saw quite a few catters last weekend @ Whitby & hope to bump into a few more this weekend......I'll look out for you all... & sign your board Mrs Lemon(& no doubt welcome your lemonade)

Poor Snuffy - if you hadn't been posting just before you left you might have remembered your tent!
We are still trying to revive ourselves after a hard working/walking weekend. Ian & Fi's session in the Black Horse has to be the best, with the singing train journey a close second.
Strange things folk festivals, you take your tent and go away and then you catch the train home to sing in your local pubs....????

Yes, Ali, weird! Sounds just like going across to Cookley, near Kidderminster, from the pretty north Cotswolds for a singing weekend and finding that you are on a coach going back to some of your local pubs where you are well known! I suppose that it just goes to prove that one should be thankful for one's lot!

The sing in the bar on Sunday night was the best. Pity it ended so early and abruptly though.

I really must learn to read this board before I go to festivals. Met Mr Red fairly early on, but only found out about Ms Lemon on the last day!

A great festival spoiled IMHO by over loud sound systems. However I'm really glad we didn't walk out of Colvin Quarmbys set when the sound reached industrial injury level, as their rendition of "The House of the Setting Sun" was the high point of the weekend for me.

Eddie Reader was a disappointement, I'm afraid that for me the personality cult doesn't seem to sit too easily with folk music.

Personality cults are all very well, but you have to have a personality to start with, and I'm afraid some of the well known ones on the circuit at the moment have failed to realise this and are sadly lacking....
