Hi guys I need some help.
My aunt is lacking an organist and wanted to pay someone to come in to play and record it. Here is the question - what is the best way to record a church organ and how then could you put the recording on to c.d that could be used during services?
Any ideas would be gratefully recieved.
   With regards.
    Pete.

Hi, Pete-
Ten years ago, we had a priest who was too cheap to hire an organist, and he went out and spent $5,000 on a cassette-player organ that was controlled with a garage door opener remote control. It was awful. I think it's very difficult for people to sing with recorded music like that. He eventually hired a live pianist, but she doesn't like Catholics - I didn't like her, either (but she still has the job).
But if ya gotta do it, ya gotta do it. It's very difficult to set up microphones properly for recording a pipe organ, especially if the pipes are in different locations. If you must, use condenser (powered) mikes and a mixer. If you have an electronic organ, it probably has a "line out" plug that will accommodate a CD or cassette recorder directly.
Good luch.
