Subject: A new verse for From: bseed Date: 26 Aug 98 - 12:53 AM The song One Man's Hands has been running through my mind the last day or so, possibly because of the Has anyone the courage now thread, but I think I first thought of it last night after I was leaving my jam group meeting...anyway, a verse just popped into my head, all in one piece: One woman's love can't keep a man at home, Two women's love can't keep a man at home, But if one and two and fifty make a million, It'll keep a man at home, maybe Bill will stay at home. Oh, lord...the folk process. --seed |
Subject: RE: A new verse for From: BSeed Date: 26 Aug 98 - 09:52 PM Thanks to whoever turned the title into a link to the database, but the words there are attributed to Kevin Becker, and are different from the original song by Seeger and all: One man's hands can't tear a prison down, Two men's hands can't tear a prison down, But if one and two and fifty make a million, We'll see that day come round, We'll see that day come round. Would it be possible to get the original words in the db as well (I like the Becker words, and I like the folk process, but we oughta begin at the beginning)?

Subject: Lyr/Tune Add: ONE MAN'S HANDS (A Comfort, P Seeger From: Joe Offer Date: 27 Aug 98 - 12:09 AM I plead guilty to adding the link, Seed. Guess I should have looked a bit more closely at the words. I found the original lyrics in The Collected Reprints from Sing Out!. I was a little taken aback to learn that the lyrics were by Alex Comfort - I assume that's the same Alex who wrote The Joy of Sex.
